Poor Parsons was not asked to model the new uniforms. Instead Mike Conley and (former Rocket sold-on-draft-night) Dillon Brooks. Spoiler Too fat? Spoiler Ohhhh, this is his new uniform: In a suit on the bench
Oh my, those are terrible and the 'tweak' to the logo is basically the same logo. Memphis needs to find a new name, Grizzlies is just a terrible brand to do something with.
Wow! Grizzlies went back to their original number font that matched their wordmark from back when that was created in 05, by 2010, they went to generic number fonts. That looks so much cleaner now. I mention this because the same thing happened to the Rockets. When they first got their uniform designs, they had a unique number font that matched the Rockets current wordmarks, and eventually changed to generic(Pacers) number font. Maybe we will get larger wordmark with a return of our unique number font? It all matched up by design like the Grizzlies. Changing it was stupid. Maybe some here think numbers are stupid to worry about, but small details like that can break the aesthetic. ORIGINAL CURRENT
Nothing cool or intimidating about a baby blue bear no matter how aggressive you try to design it. That color ruins it. For that matter, nothing intimidating about a buck either. They are killed all the time for sport and trophies not because they are a menace. Just sayin'. I think our logo should change from a Rocket to a nuclear warhead explosion. That would be sweet. Just the mushroom cloud. Make it red with some gold around it or white with red around it. .. . . . On second thought. . . . . Maybe not.
It’s actually not a small thing, it’s my main gripe with our unis. I really don’t hate the original 04-11 ones, but once they copied the Pacers - something that is seriously one of the dumbest, most infuriating things the Rockets have ever done - it all turned to ****. Also the shoulder cut, even though the wide ones was far from perfect, it matched and was in proportion to the stripes. If they change it back, I really wouldn’t complain as much, since most NBA jerseys have something wrong with them.
Hate the original jersey cut. The shorts came to a point so the jersey loops should have come to a point to create the sleeve trim imo
You bring up good points. And no those aesthetics and small details are not stupid. I think the fact Tilman confirmed they would be changing the FONT on the Rockets jerseys says a lot. At minimum, it just needs to be bigger/thicker.
For the record, as a matter of course I really HATE jerseys that have the player name UNDER the number. It should always be ABOVE the number. Much easier to read and consistent.
