Laces don't count. The rule got changed a few years ago. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...ces-no-longer-good-enough-for-a-tag/82538300/
Betts scared me the way he tossed his bat... thought it was gone. He has swag (and game) like Bregman.
This is a pretty common phenomena that happens to all team’s fan bases when they’re just so used to listening to their home team announcers. Baseball is more regional/territorial than any of the other major sports, and fans get conditioned to it whether they realize it or not.
Then we should get a damn explanation for what the thought process was in NY. If the laces dont count, it is indisputable he was safe.
Dude is a smart player. Really fun to watch. We may adjust our strategy in the postseason should we meet based on his at bats this series, where his plan is pretty clear.
Now they know for October. Figured he’d do it in RBI situations, but he’s willing to do it in all situations. They do have the ability to adjust... had to do it to Prince Fielder a few years ago as he sold out his swing to beat the shift consistently. This is why “banning shifts” just seems idiotic for baseball. It’s not like theyr’e impossible to beat... that would be just like saying “lets ban the really fast fastballs, they’re unfair!”
