If Oakland never happened, then this is probably par for the course. That if it’s that close, the call may just end up standing. But Oakland was an overturn of the call on the field... with almost less visual evidence than this one. At that point, I figured they’re going to sync all the angles up and overturn calls even if they’re close. Consistency is all any team asks for.
Yeah, that was my thinking. Maybe one of the laces grazed his uniform. And I would assume that would count. But I think that's the only shred of evidence they have against Altuve being safe. Very thin evidence...literally. I don't personally buy it. Seems like "tie goes to the runner" has kind of been forgotten in the era of replay in my observations. That call should have been called safe initially and then been challenged by the Sox.
