The memes are the best part of this Nike nonsense.

I really tried to care about the Nike thing in particular and the kneeling controversy in general but I just can't. No matter how much coverage it gets, it just isn't that important in the scheme of everything else happening.

Curiosity , how do you think he should have gone about it ? What are the proper channels in 2018 for activism ?

Colin has nothing in common with Ali, it's clearly a racist comparison.

Colin is goofy and ugly, can hardly string together sentences after long deliberations. Ali was handsome and charismatic, A great speaker.

    Ali intelligent, colin not.

Ali made his point during his prime , Colin threw his anthem protest when it was clear he cldnt cut it in league.

Ali did it through the right channels, Colin was random and lazy to do it during the anthem, something MLK would not have wanted.

With marketing there is controversy and then there is falling flat. This is the latter.

They have absolutely nothing in common and Nike's brand will suffer for using the wrong guy for a slogan that doesnt fit the actual chain of events. Theres too much information out there to dupe the public .

I keep seeing people say they should have used a real military hero that sacrificed their life for Nike... which seems like an odd ad for a shoe.

Anyways my question to trump supporters is:

So someone is a hero if they sacrifice their life for the country, but not a hero if they’re captured?

I consider them both heroes. I just want to understand their reasoning.

Now what if they lost their life after being captured? Where do they fall under the presidents definition of a hero?

For me the entire premise of activism is you physically show up to the decision makers' door and tell him/her to change or leave. If you're alone, you're alone. If people are on board, they will show up.

The idea of online activism replacing activism is idiotic. Any dictator knows that the one thing that cannot be controlled is the day 2% or more of the population physically shows up to his/her doorstep. For everything else, there is a PR solution. Online posts are a communication tool. It doesn't replace activism, it just replaces the phone calls that precedes activism. It's the equivalent of gathering all the phone calls that were made before the civil rights march under a title/hashtag and calling just the phone calls "activism".

If this is just a call to organize, then fine. But doing it with Nike = **** your cause, as far as I'm concerned. Nike is part of the systemic problem imo. In the words of Anthony Bourdain, he shouldn't have sucked the dick.

People hated Ali for doing what he did. Ali did it through the right channels? Please go read up on history.

Kaep could have just shut up and cashed the backup checks for a few years. Brock has a job in the nfl. That's all you need to know.

Wouldn't even be a backup. Weekend have been one of those guys moving to different starting jobs.

How they forget Ali was a draft dodger and was quite insulting. Add in the offense of being a Muslim that had abandoned Christianity. He was a brilliant wordsmith and self promoter, but he was hated by many.

Why is Nike part of a racial problem? They have promoted athletes regardless of race. Is your issue with capitalism based sweatshops?

You do realize this isn't some intelligent scholar , hes a guy who can run and throw a ball using his platform for "publicity". It's a millennial thing to not have a plan and go for the thrill. For brands, this is a good thing, but for issues with deep rooted tendencies like racism, it's always going to be talk with no walk. In this case, it likely increased racial tensions by shutting down previous dialogues.

The majority did not hate him as he was too large and beloved of a figure to really piss people off. Comparing alis popularity to Kaepernick before the controversy is like comparing MJ to Eric Gordon. MJ was the show, Gordon just another replaceable cog in the machine. America has always been forgiving of those with outrageous talent.

Ali had a legit message with open dialogue with authorities - read up on it. Colin has absolutely nothing in common with the guy and hes caused more harm than good with his lazy approach to activism.

Are you 12? Ali was hated at the time. Well documented.
