Only 50% of Texans approve of the job cruz is doing and have a favorable view of cruz... which sounds great compared to trump's favorability and approval, but for a very well-known republican with near universal name recognition in Texas doesn't seem to suggest he is "well-liked". https://poll.qu.edu/texas/release-detail?ReleaseID=2559 And touting primary votes when he ran essentially unopposed?
The vote count is an issue though. Are there enough Dems to make up the difference? Beto is going to have to get a large percentage of independents/undecideds and flip some republican votes. It's certainly doable...but there's still a lot of work to do in the next 2 months.
No doubt. GOTV will be key for any Democrat to win statewide in Texas. That said... comparing primary vote totals (before Beto had captured the attention of Texas voters is not the best measure. Even today Beto has much lower name recognition... which will need to grow significantly as November approaches. The statewide tour grew awareness and excitement, but ads and televised debates, and even cruz's negative advertising will increase name recognition.
Beto has my family which are all independents. Like many, we can't facking stand Cruz. And yet... still don't think Beto will win
Completely agree. Apparently Cruz and his people aren't smart enough to realize they're only helping Beto. Want to guarantee there will be a huge push in Democratic turnout? Have trump show up for you and endorse you after what he said about you and your family. Want to guarantee that people see him as a regular person? Bash him for salty language, eating Whataburger, skateboarding, and being in a punk band. It's still very much an uphill climb. He's doing the things to get his name out there. The national publicity has a fine line he has to walk. Can't seem too much "Hollywood" but needs the publicity to make sure there's wide enough coverage of him in the state. Making this a low single digit race that could go late into the night to count is a huge upset in itself. I would much rather he win and won't be satisfied with another "good loss"...but it's a huge upset happening and Cruz couldn't be playing this any worse.
Yup, as of mid-July: Beto - 32% of donations were out of state Ted - 47% of donations were out of state Speaking of Hollywood... Beto - 10% of donations were from California Ted - 8% of donations were from California Seems like Ted is relying on Californians just about as much as Beto is. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...ke-vs-Ted-Cruz-draws-millions-in-13066862.php
I voted against Bush and Obama who both did coke. I guess due to all the time you "had me on ignore" (yeah right) you missed when I argue heavily against drug and alcohol usage.
Really? Who gives a **** what they did when they were younger? Part of growing up is experimenting, sometimes with drugs for some folks, others alcohol, or sex......judge not lest ye be judged. Just figure out who is the best person for the job today. DD
I have to agree with you here. I think most of us did things we regret when we were young and stupid but they should not count against a person for a lifetime.
Lying Ted doing Lying Ted things https://www.dallasnews.com/news/pol...cts-beto-orourke-saying-grateful-flag-burning
These are a bit conflicting. I think politicians are allowed a past, but I will use their past to make my determination.
If trump did some blow he’d get so much more accomplished. 0 chance he’d be on Twitter. He’d probably clean the entire whitehouse.
Can Beto use Trump calling Sessions a "Dumb Southerner" to his benefit in Texas? Clinton saying some Trump supporters are "Deplorables" tanked her candidacy.
Nope. Even if there were audio and video. Even if it were on live tv. Even if the entirety of trump supporters from the south were in the f***ing room...#fakenews.
