https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...they-desperately-need/?utm_term=.43c86718abbf In their quest for an icon, someone to lift their spirits and usher them out of the wilderness, Democrats were shown the way this week by an unlikely guide: Texas Republicans. The state GOP identified a rock star in a faded monochrome from the 1990s. A floral-print getup (perhaps a dress or tunic), cut wide at the neck, hangs over his lean frame. His hair is parted down the middle, the rest disappearing behind his head in what looks like a loose ponytail. His square jaw accentuates his long, angular face. The maneuver by the state party had its drawbacks. The evidence dredged up and circulated on Twitter, rather than incriminating O’Rourke, made him appear, well, downright seductive to some. It turned the congressman into a symbol of the connection between music and politics, expressed in everything from patriotic hymns to antiwar ballads to contemporary hip-hop. The more offbeat side of the candidate revealed this week seemed especially alluring to those most staunchly opposed to President Trump and his legislative allies. Town & Country called him “Kennedyesque.” The Texas Democrat has captured the attention of celebrities, from Ellen DeGeneres to LeBron James. “Is Beto O’Rourke the left’s Obama-like answer to Trump in 2020?” asked Vanity Fair this week, quoting a Texas journalist noting, “It seems like Iowa in 2007.”
As with most of your posts... this isn't truthful. The vast majority of posts in this threads are either posts talking about specific O'Rourke events/appearances and posts talking about how he is catching up and making a close race. There have been very few posts attacking cruz, personal or otherwise. Which is impressive, when you consider cruz and the posts from cruz's supporters.
You have a selective memory. There hasn't been a single argument against Cruz's stance or policies in this thread. The only argument I see here is Cruz supporting Trump. it's all ad hominem attacks.
No one likes Ted Cruz... not even his family. He likely still wins but it is because he has an “R” next to his name in Texas.
You are moving the goal posts. You said "the entire thread is all personal attacks on Cruz". I said the majority of posts were about O'Rourke campaign events and how he is catching up to Cruz. Now if your argument is "for those posts about cruz, the majority are personal attacks", cruz is such an unlikable person I am not surprised that there are personal attacks. Of course, its hypocritical for cruz and his supporters to cry about this, since cruz has been running a smear campaign since O'Rourke has closed the gap. But if you want stance or policy criticisms, I oppose almost every one of his positions: he is against gay marriage and gay rights in general, he is against environmental protections, he is against a woman's right to choice; I oppose his positions favoring eliminating the Dept of Education, IRS, HUD, and Dept of Interior, I oppose his desire to increase voter ID laws, I oppose his position supporting Citizen's United, I oppose his positions against restricting assault weapons and high capacity magazines, I oppose his position to repeal ACA and to repeal mandatory pre-existing condition coverage, I oppose his position on waterboarding, I oppose his support of trump's vanity wall, I oppose his support of flat tax, I oppose his opposition to Net Neutrality... to be honest, there are very few things I agree with Cruz (we agree on death penalty, increase size of border patrol, and that torture is unambiguously wrong (though he waffles re: waterboarding).
By retweeting and restating what Trump has said about Ted? I’ve been railing on Cruz’s policy in Texas for years. Leading the charge to shutdown the government to grandstand over Obama outrage, gutting healthcare any way he can, privatizing education by gutting public schools, and anti environmental regulation gutting to the extreme.
Rice did better than she did. They only lost by 18. Perhaps they enjoyed that 1st half lead a bit too much in the locker room.
So if this becomes sign count contest, Cruz may be in trouble. Since it is about going out and actually voting, I am not worried in the slightest. Beto is mainly popular with the naive younger crowd.
Based on what metric? Just driving past the crowd at his town hall in The Woodlands a couple weeks ago, I saw people of all ages. The 10 or so houses in my area that have signs are at least middle aged homeowners in what has historically been heavily republican Montgomery County. Despite what you’d like to belive, the Democratic Party isn’t just college students and immigrants. Y’all keep on thinking this is just like Wendy Davis (it isn’t) and that there isn’t enough motivation on our side to punt Cruz to unemployment (there is). Remember, it’s Cruz who’s donations mostly come from out of state by a large margin.
If you had to say that your message is "light-hearted," before people watch the video, the video ain't funny.
I've noticed every time you start to feel good about the Rockets, Adult Eddie Munster shows his face.. Whose Man's is this!?
Nah, he’s just taking a play from the Russian playbook. Trigger the necks, nationalists, and bots - sit back and enjoy.
Yes, no one likes Ted Cruz. That is why he got more votes in the primary than all the Democrat candidates combined.
