Yeah we don't really need that. We can just play Gerald Green if the guy is not handling the ball. He gives just as much, if not more, effort and can hit a 3.

MCW needs to be able to shoot. There's no such thing as a guy who can't shoot playing for MDA & Morey in the 2018 NBA. Just doesn't happen, it's a thing of the past.

Corey Brewer btw is Steph Curry compared to MCW.

Obviously Mike, Daryl and staff disagree with you, as shown by their eagerness to snag him early in FA.

Also, Gerald Green is a significantly inferior defender to MCW, so there are uses If you are a high level coach that can recognize when it is valuable to have a guy that can pickup full-court and be a pest. If you have ever coached, you would know that there are always minutes for a guy like that, even If it is 2 minutes. MCW gives Mike more options to play Chess, not checkers, contrary to what your analysis seems to suggest.

Corey Brewer is Steph Curry compared to MCW? Hmm. We will see about that. Statistically they are quite similar from all ranges, and at the least, youth and the ability to handle the ball, (AND NOT GAMBLE FOR EVERY GAWDAMN STEAL) are on MCW's side.

They don't disagree with me at all, which is why MCW will see fewer minutes than Green.

MCW is not in any way a far superior defender to Gerald Green during his tenure in Houston. They are about the same.

Also, the Steph Curry comparison is not a debate. Corey Brewer is a superior 3pt shooter over MCW. In fact, given his volume of shooting MCW might be one of the worst shooters with that many shots, ever. Whether it changes is a different subject. But it is not the case as of last season. Corey Brewer's CAREER average from 3 in 15 seasons is better than MCW's best season in his 5 NBA years.

MCW will see fewer minutes than Green most certainly, but that wasn't the point.

MCW is definitely a better defender than Gerald Green. His situational awareness is higher, his ability to help the helper, his lateral quickness. His ability to pick up an elite ball handler full court. If you have seen these two guys play, there really isn't a comparison. MCW is a more proficient defender than G, but Gerald is the more valuable player, 100 percent. Still, they are both situational Chess pieces for Mike D'Antoni, with vastly different strengths. MCW can absolutely be better than Gerald Green in certain situations, which is why we signed him.

It is a debate, but a pretty poor one. We will see how MCW does off the ball. His situation as a player has been hectic. Hell, Gerald Green was nearly kicked out of the league until he found the right team to utilize his talent properly. I expect similar for MCW, who again, has the superior defensive tools and basketball intellect to make an impact (Albeit a small one) on our season.

MCW is a quality defender. Have no idea why @Mathloom thinks his defense is bad. But he's wrong on that point.

To be honest.. I’ve never heard of MCW to be a quality defender until he signed in Houston.

    But, I hope he is.

MCW has always been a good defender. Curious that folks don't realize that. He is quick and has reach. It's just everything on the other end of the floor that holds him back.

He is, he’s even closer to elite then just quality. It’s not something he’s been hyped for but if you check the numbers they have been there since he was a rookie.

Like others have mentioned though, he’s absolutely nightmarishly bad on offense. Like guys like Roberson and Brewer are definite better at making shots.
