U.N. says it has credible reports that China holds million Uighurs in secret camps

A United Nations human rights panel said on Friday that it had received many credible reports that 1 million ethnic Uighurs in China are held in what resembles a “massive internment camp that is shrouded in secrecy.”

Gay McDougall, a member of the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, cited estimates that 2 million Uighurs and Muslim minorities were forced into “political camps for indoctrination” in the western Xinjiang autonomous region.

“We are deeply concerned at the many numerous and credible reports that we have received that in the name of combating religious extremism and maintaining social stability (China) has changed the Uighur autonomous region into something that resembles a massive internship camp that is shrouded in secrecy, a sort of ‘no rights zone’,” she told the start of a two-day regular review of China’s record, including Hong Kong and Macao.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I would not trust the UN very much.

Why? Did you think places besides America don't have race/religion issues? Do you think people don't know about these issues? Are you really that dumb?

On a side note, do you support this? Are you surprised the Trumpers did not jump all over this?

I will give you a response, but I will first allow you to finish your thought by bringing up "diffy q's", your mother's hijab, and your "brown" skin.

for the education of the less-than-informed red rocket.

this claim is similar to the one made when China evicted slave-owner Dalai Lama out of the Tibet Autonomous Region, 2+ decades ago

what has happened in Tibet since ? https://www.newsweek.com/china-good-tibet-75401

"for China's many blunders in mountainous region, it has erected a booming economy there. Looking at growth, standard of living, infrastructure, education, access to health care and upward mobility , one thing is clear: China has been good for Tibet. "

The effect: double-digit GDP growth for the past two decades. About a third of the money went to infrastructure investment, including the train connecting Beijing to Lhasa. "A clear benefit of the train was that it makes industrial goods cheaper for Tibetans. The train also provides an opportunity for Tibetan goods to be sold outside of the region and for a massive increase in number of tourists"

    it is intellectually dishonest to
    • lump the Uighurs' Xinjiang Autonomous Region together with Hong Kong and Macao.
    • insinuate that the Uighurs and the Han majority in China are of different races
      • they, along w Koreans, Japanese, Vietnamese, and other Asians, are of the same race
it'd take a very ignorant fool for fall for that, the Red Rocket fits that requirement like a glove.

for the education of the red rocket,
while HK and Macao are cities and former colonies of Western powers transitioning to become a Chinese city, currently operating under the PRC's designation of a Special Administrative Region, Autonomous Regions are like states/provinces.

    area wise,
    • Both HK and Macao are smaller than Houston
    • Xinjiang is much bigger than either Texas, Calif or Alaska

I've been hearing of the persecution of Uighurs for years. Doesn't sound good. Makes me sad there is injustice all over the world. But they are in China. I'm American. I worry about what America does.

Many people may not realize it, but China is one of the world’s greatest spy states.

Pretty sure most people realize China is an awful country with an awful government and that civil rights really is not a consideration.

China is one of the worst places I have ever been to and they are terrible to do business with as well.

Someone needs to tell ISIS and Al-Queda. Direct their anger at countries that are actually taking away the rights of muslims and
are anti-muslim compared with the US.

I heard so many people saying good things about China, just not like what you are saying. I am wishing that you should stop do any business with China for your good health.

China don't play around. They don't have to worry about privacy. They spy on everyone. They will find you and they will kill you.

This's what a Chinese state owned media would had said but it's way far from the truth.

Uighurs ~ Oi-gurs are known to be the natives of East and West of Turkestan, they are genetically different from Asians, just like Uzbics, Chechnyians etc; they are called by the Chinese :Bai= Whites, though some of them were forced to mate with Chinese when the Communists party took over and they're named distinctively" Khotyila"
    Since 80 years ago
millions of (Bukhara refugees ) are in Saudi Arabia who spokes/still speak an old Turkish language ,also there are few thousands of Muslim Chinese too, they kept their separate heritage intact.

Here for instance my friend’s father who's an Arabic language professor/prominent deputy writer) Dr. Othman Al-Seni which means the Chinese, and he would never claim to be an Uighurs and vice versa
