Beto must be doing something right if he's got Trump's attention... https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-to-campaign-for-ted-cruz-texas-senate-race-against-beto-orourke/
Well Realclearpolitics just put the race into the "toss up" category, so that's probably what caught his attention. Cruz is still up by a decent amount, but the race has tightened.
"lyin' Ted" = "my complete and total Endorsement" actually, with the lyingest liar in American history, this statement is strangely consistent. LOL. Someone named "Lyin' Ted" should end up with a cabinet position in this White House next to "Eddie the Lizard" and "Vlad the Fixer."
Surprised I haven't seen this article in this thread yet given its source is the Houston Chronicle. Anyways https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...orts-detail-Beto-O-Rourke-s-1998-13195088.php Police reports detail Beto O’Rourke’s 1998 DWI arrest Not quite an October surprise, but interesting these details were downplayed prior to this story. I'm guessing Beto is getting uncomfortably close to Ted. Supposedly the Cruz campaign has declined (so far) to comment but you can bet they are loving this story.
It's been out there since his run for the House. This isn't news...at least not anymore. The incumbent he beat tried to use it against him. Didn't work then and won't now.
Partly true. The Chronicle article mentions the story has been out there. What it also mentions is that certain details have not been brought to light....mainly, that there was an accident involved in the DUI and that a witness said he tried to run.
accidental double post... A lot of us have decided that those things do not disqualify him from running...and the number of people are growing. The Zodiac Killer mime is going low fast but it's just working against him...
Skeletons in the closet didn't stop them from voting for Trump, or Dan Patrick, or GWB. Not sure why it matters now other than Beto has a D next to his name on the ballot.
It seems to be all they have. The full report has been out there. It's got to be hard for them with Cruz being such an unlikable, repulsive person. Even his own family doesn't like him.
This... a million times, this... However, I doubt it will work to limit anyone voting for Beto either.
I mean, everybody can change, and should, and the stupidity of youth should not be held against you, but GWB was a drunken cokehead who cruised around Houston in a red Mercedes convertible with a bottle of Jack in the passenger seat. And we elected him President.
You can go on claiming O’Rourke crashing his car into oncoming traffic, trying to flee the scene of the crime, and then blowing a 0.136 and 0.134 on the breathalyzer test is totally like the anodyne-by-comparison Bush DUI. But you’d be wrong.
Had a DWI. Was arrested, assigned court-recommended DWI programs, completed the programs, and has said it was a mistake that he has owned up to. Which quite frankly, is a way more admirable than the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania, let alone the guy he is running against. Again, the race is close... far closer than mr. inevitable expected. Beto has outworked him and has presented a positive, likable campaign using grass-roots approach and not using PAC money. So cruz is now resorting to what he and republicans know best... a smear campaign.
A disturbingly large amount of Beto's campaign contributions are coming from out of state. A lot of non-Texan liberals are eager to try to change this state into something different. That's very telling for those who care to think about this race.
Why does that matter? If you like a candidate why would you not like them because of people from out of state like them? What matters more is that Beto isn't taking a dime from special interest money and won't be beholden to any special interests.
