So ballsy to cut the greatest punter in the history of the game.....but IMO the right decision. If you cut Trevor Daniel he'd be picked up in about 3 seconds and you'd have maybe one more season left of Lechler. The kid had too much talent to pass up.

Hate to lose a Hall of Fame punter who may have been the best ever but it was time and couldn’t lose out on the potential of Trevor Daniel - he had too much future and too much ability

Yeah but you have to keep one of them unless you want to cut both and just pick someone up off of waivers.

Had to be done. Sucks to see him go but couldn't afford to lose Daniel.

Legs should have retired before getting cut. Even if it's BS just better to do it on your terms.

Hes still better than more than half the league in the craft of punting and placing a ball even at his ripe old age.

Lechler, 42, spent the previous five seasons in Houston after 13 with the Raiders. The move saves the Texans $1.4 million against the cap, but it's possible they bring him back after Week 1 when Lechler's salary won't be guaranteed for the whole season. For now, UDFA Trevor Daniel has the gig.

Hope the rookie does well, but it may be that Shane hangs out for a little if we need him. Good situation to have.

I remember when Shane called into a sportstalk show after the Astros won the world series. All astros fans go to heaven.

Living legend in east bernard. As HOF worthy as any punter could be.
