Chris Chriss Chrisss See ya later, Ryno-gator. Now we got to complain about Knight's 15 or 16 mill a year? Yay! Boi, he had that ACL tear, will he be our DeMarcus?
Welll... This means we're going all in this yr and next; on the James Harden era as far as winning a championship goes. Win the chip this upcoming season, who cares what Melton turns out to be.
On paper, this is the most talented per 36 team ever assembled. 7 players above 15.0 points per 5 players above 6.0 rebounds per 3 players above 4.0 assists per 7 players above 1.0 steals per 2 players above 1.5 blocks per 7 players above 50% on 2pt shots 8 players who can shoot 36%+ on 3pt shots 7 players above 80% on free throws
Absolute worst case scenario, we traded a non contributing 40mill contract for a 29mill backup PG who can ring up 15pg om 36% from 3. Bottom line: worst case is that Knight id a LOT more tradeable than Anderson going forward. Best case he can contribute in a meaningful fashion!! And Chriss can play 10ish minutes as backup 5
Paul-Knight-MCW Harden-Gordon Tucker-Ennis-VE Melo-Green-Zhou-Clark Capela-Chriss-Nene-Hartenstein Better? Team is becoming more positionless anyway and Ennis is a wing more so a SF.
He won't get close to 15 pg as long as EGo still playing some minutes at the 1/ or getting touches in the 2nd unit. Spoiler
i was never as high on melton as most here. and as i mentioned, it was obvious morey was showcasing him with unusually high minutes in the summer league. he has some defensive tools and strong character, but lacks fluidity on offense and at age 20 with little playing experience is a project at best. being able to distribute, play iso, or spot up -- knight fits what we do on offense, although defensively he leaves a lot to be desired. the main issue of course is that he's never been healthy his entire career. chriss is a tremendous talent. luckily PHO was willing to give him up b/c jackson/warren/etc are going to take up all their playing time anyways. working with john lucas this kid is going to improve his weaknesses (FT shooting, court awareness) and playing with beard and cp3 he's going to be capela lite. there is a lot of potential here if we end up keeping him for the long haul. basically morey has swung for the fences with big gambles here on knight being able to stay healthy and chriss being able to develop his talent. i think pj's played with both these guys so he was probably able to vouch for them. even if this doesn't work out exactly as hoped, one takeaway is at least we got younger with fresh legs to somewhat save cp3 and tucker for the playoffs.
We traded one untradeable contract for a contract that is more tradeable in Knight, and may actually be able to help us. Not counting on it, but easily more likely than Anderson was. We could also pair Criss with some of our smaller contracts. This just gives us more flexibility overall when it comes to salary matching for trades. Criss seems like your classic all body dumb player, I hate those, but maybe in a better environment we can get some productivity out of him. I find it funny that people couldn't stop piling on what a terrible player and contract Anderson was, and the turn around and be furious that we had to give up something to get rid of him. I'm really high on Melton, and think he could have been a great role player for us, but I haven't seen star potential. Still, it hurts to lose him.
Excellent trade! Those who understand the salary cap know trading down from a $20 million "untradeable" player to a $14 million one is brilliant move alone. Now, that player also happens to be a 26-year-old point guard who can be much easily flipped in the future, is just the icing on the cake. Morey flat out just won another trade while Clutchfans whines about some poor schmuck 2nd rounder named Melton.
The logic is that it wasn't a schmuck called Melton when he was the driving force to make that trade happen, and not Anderson. He could not even be a schmuck. Phoenix is obviouly trying to bolster their Defense with Ariza, Melton. And they have targeted Capela in the past. They probably have the spare time to ride out Anderson's contract. No wonder they are a good trading partner of the Rockets org. Dump it to Arizona when nothing else works!
You seen Chriss play ?! This is just a salary savings dump. Now if you can flip Knight, Chriss and a 1st rd pick for Jimmy Butler, now we're talking championship.
Wow but I wanted to keep Melton Only positive thing is he has potential but hasn’t proven anything and that we traded him to the suns instead of a good team. Plus good thing for him since he might have not played or gotten too many minutes.
You are not interest with Ryan Anderson. Now...how you doing, Miami? Let’s discuss a trade with Chriss for James Johnson and Tyler Johnson
