Bregman is likely to have a higher WAR this year than Berkman ever had. A 3B has much more defensive value then an OF/1B, and in general offense is way down from Berkman's early years. It's not as crazy as you seem to think. Bregman is a monster.

The question is whether he can maintain this power level, which few people saw coming. If he can perennially be around or over 30 HR's and stay healthy he could easily be better.

    Wow, the conversation.
I refer the nickname "Great White Shark" which is not at all racist, very fitting, and sounds really cool.
When I first read the title, I did not think "White Power" was being used as a nickname, I thought it simply meant that this thread was about comparing Tyler White's power hitting to Lance Berkman's.

How about Tyler “White” Power? With a clear separation of white and power. Super fair compromise you guys.

You whiteys brought your rat diseases into the new world along with your syphilis. If only the natives of the americas would have sacrificed and eaten the hearts of these lighter skin individuals before it got out of control, then all this racial tension would have been avoided. have you ever wondered why all these ancient civilizations built pyramids without knowing of each other? I'm not saying aliens but...

Stayed in shape and have a longer career? Maybe... but actually be better within the season?

I know he could have studied more tape... or spend time learning pitcher's tells/tendencies... but a lot of that can end up detracting from natural instinct and is absolutely no guarantee to add to his success. You end up creating situations like Correa is in now... where his brain is largely getting in the way of his god-given talent.

Teammates "joking" about it also contains an element of, "how the **** is this guy rolling out of bed, this good..." frustration of sorts.

Lance was just naturally that good. His first full season might have been his best of his career... so he's a guy who came into the league pretty much in his prime. Overweight is also stretching it.... A.J. Reed is overweight. Lance was mostly not in shape, but still had enough athleticism to play a competent OF early in his career.

Only saw a season of Glenn Davis in the late 80s, it's a great comparison on paper, but... but.

Compare White's HR tonight to Berkman's first in the major

    Berkman
    https://www.mlb.com/gameday/angels-...,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=531412 White tonight

Eerily similar bat speed with strong hands.

Yawn.....It's all in your head. In 2018 no one cares about Nazi ism or KKK ideals. Yes, there are rallies of 20 people (if that much... less show up) in North Carolina the media blows out of proportion, and gives people who need to be riled up some fuel, but your need to over censor doesn't help any cause. Let people relax, have fun and laugh in life because racism doesn't benefit anyone and it's certainly not on the minds of everyone smarter than you. Work on being capable instead of playing the victim.

It was funny the first time but certain posters just played it out.

Except it was never funny and always corny.

Tyler White batting stance is Similar to Jeff Bagwell, but it's a open stance with a leg stomp, facing the pitcher more. His Power is similar to Bagwell in his 30s. Tyler is not athletic as Jeff during his 20s, but Bagwell in his 30s with Tyler is similar.

Why do you feel that you have to constantly remind people that you're smart? Actual smart people don't have to tell anyone. It's simply obvious in the way they talk and, in the case of an internet forum, write. I don't know what your IQ is and you don't know me or mine. You couldn't have known that I am Jewish and have family that traces to eastern Europe before and during The Holocaust. It's always the ones that have to constantly say out loud that they're smarter than you that know inside they really aren't. There seems to be a running theme with the people, like you, that have to remind us of your supposed superior intellect who seem to get the loudest about it when defending such obviously indefensible things.

You are right. Racism doesn't benefit anyone. I don't want to be riled up. I don't want to have to explain to anyone why the phrase "White Power" might have some pretty negative connotations. I don't see it as "over censoring" as I do not have the ability to censor anyone on this site. I'm just the silly one because I thought it would be fairly clear why that would be a poor choice of words...for most people anyway.

I made my point...many agree and fewer don't.

I think Bregman will be mostly in the 20's for hr's on average. But I think he's just going to be a consistently great player who will be in the MVP conversation for years to come. He has the natural talent and incessant need to get better. It's going to be really exciting to see what he becomes. If you said we could only keep 2 of the core 4 (Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Springer), I would say Bregman and Altuve. I love Correa and I think he's just having a weird year. I have no reason to think that he won't be an All-Star level player consistently for years to come. I love Springer's heart and hustle but I think he is what he is...a .250-.275 hitter with power that is just streaky as hell. He'll have seasons like last year and he'll have more like this year. But Bregman and Altuve are the 2 main keys to success for this team. They're the 2 that I expect hits from in clutch moments.

If that were what he intended then the thread title would have been "Tyler White's Power and Berkman Comparison". The apostrophe and s make a world of difference.

Bregman showed pretty good power in the minors. Also Berkman wasn't juicing or at least I don't think he was. I think his WAR should be adjusted higher since everyone else was juiced out of their mind. 1.050 ops is pretty impressive. That year we had 13 guys with 1.000+ ops included roided Barry with a ops close to 1.400.

If Berkman was juicing, he was doing it wrong. Taking steroids doesn't make one more able to bat to ball than not taking them.
