I'm saying that you fight battles you can win. Fighting the 2nd Amendment is an unwinnable battle, period. It won't happen, ever. Why? Because the way the Constitution was written... the 2nd Amendment is there to literally protect the rest of the Constitution from an oppressive government. Even if you don't believe that to be true, half the country, a well armed half, does.

The most delusional belief in the current American political climate, is that guns are going away. They will never go away, and if they do, the United States of America will cease to exist. I'm not saying that I'd take up arms against the government, but I know tens of millions would if they came for their guns.

So, you can continue to do nothing except get outraged when gun violence happens, or you can focus on pragmatic solutions that have the best chance of saving lives. Those pragmatic solutions would be a renewed focus on mental health and rethinking the failed war on drugs.

What is the current count of these guys that have been both 1. Reported to the incompetent FBI and 2. on psychoactive pharmaceuticals?

The increasing rate is due to the herd mentality of lowering thresholds to violence but the number of cases alone with these two "coincidences" cannot be ignored.

What's amazing is contrasting the reactions by right supporters in this thread vs. the murder by an illegal immigrant thread.

The second amendment has been modified and will continue to be modified.

You and your ilk put way too much faith in guns. This country has historically put down armed resistance and treats law and order very seriously.

Your ilk doesn’t even like pragmatic solutions. We need a single federal system instead of a patchwork system designed to be abused. Like the tax system, gun laws are intentionally full of loopholes.

Is your ilk okay with actively taking away someone guns who shows signs of a break with reality? Like they did with a few cases in Florida.

Is it a coincidence that the rise of social media coincidence with mass shootings? You can find coincidences and excuses everywhere.

We have decided individuals under 18, felons, and the mentally ill can’t own guns. We regulate the sale of firearms as well. Anyone thinking we can’t “infringe” on the second amendment is an ignorant fool.

If we actually restricted guns from people with mental problems this shooting would never have happened. I don't agree with banning ARs because that cat is out of the bag, you can however restrict and remove weapons from particular people like this guy.

I'm pro gun but I'm not pro crazy people rights.

I haven't heard of anti-psychotics being linked to homocidal behavior. There is a modest association between antidepressants but that's an entirely different drug class and it wasn't stated he was taking any of those.

It's not a surprise at all... The current standard for them to take your guns away or prevent you from buying them on mental illness grounds is being forced into a facility by a judge. I am pro gun. However, reading that description is exactly like what one of my best friends went through. Yet he was able to walk into Academy and buy a gun. Actually he bought several. In the end the police shot him dead in his backyard.
