I still think benching yuli is a mistake. I know he has had a bland season but he’s dangerous with risp. Bat tyler white at cleanup as the DH and keep yuli at 1st and bat him 5th or 6th. Reddick has been a much bigger disappointment offensively this year than Yuli. Still, I feel like both will get hot in september and if not they are still good as 6,7, and 8 hitters in the lineup.

I now feel like it should be this on most nights...

    1. Altuve 2b
    2. Bregman 3b
    3. Correa ss
    4. White dh
    5. Springer cf
    6. Gurriel 1b
    7. Marwin lf
    8. Catcher
    9. Reddick rf

    * I do feel like Correa will get going big time real soon. Maybe swap him and gurriel until he starts to do that.

Astros have done something for 3+ seasons.

After this, they'll do something else. Then, do something else.

Shame on yall. How do you call yourself fans? Calling our young stud SS and league MVP 'trash.'

Sure Altuve had a poor game and Correa has been struggling since returning from injury, but for goodness sake have some patience before throwing them under the bus.

Since coming off the DL, Altuve is hitting .321 with a .406 OBP and .500 slugging, even with the 4 strike outs today.

Why didn’t you post this before the game when his average, OBP and slugging were even higher?

For next season we should get rid of gattis and add a left handed bat to platoon at first with yuli. Tyler White full time DH. Who that is, I really don’t know.

    Edit: not AJ Reed

Not opposed to getting switch hitting Smoak from Toronto at the waiver deadline, though it'll be tough to fit him in the lineup. At least, it would keep him away from the Yankees. Don't mind making "defensive" moves such as that. Maybe also another bullpen arm but I think we'll be fine if Lance comes back healthy and maybe Deetz can come from Fresno to help us during the stretch (or one of the starters but I think they most likely spot start to keep our rotation fresh).
Reed, well, let's bring him up when the rosters expand. He needs one more extended chance. Spetember/Spring Training (maaaybe April 2019) will be his last chance, and he at least deserves it. But he is running out of time. And yes, Gattis should walk for sure. Not opposed to trying to shop Yuli and keep Marwin instead, but that would be very tough. Smoak could fit in that case if Toronto will trade him and we make room. I love the switch hitter's numbers and ability to produce from both sides. But I'm just dreaming.

Reed will not be getting at bats in September unless a lot of guys get hurt. They are in the middle of a pennant race. They can't afford to give him at bats.

Free agent options include Lucas Duda, Matt Adams, and Joe Mauer. Any interest? Have no idea what trade options would be available.

Maybe against Toronto or Baltimore at the tail end if we put the division away by then? But I definitely want him to get an extended look during Spring Training. He's been with us longer than JD Davis, yet Davis has already passed him up in MLB plate appearances. Not saying he will be a late bloomer, I just want him to get another chance since he really hasn't been given one.
Duda might be fine. Adams, with the ability to also fill in at LF is also fine. Mauer, I think he'll either return to the Twins, or just retire. I really cannot imagine him playing for anyone else. And honestly, I don't want him to, he deserves to be a Twin for life. It would be like Biggio signing with someone else for a year in 2008 instead of retiring.

Once the division and 2nd seed are wrapped up (doubt they will catch Boston), they'll give guys more rest, but Luhnow has already said they won't carry guys just to sit on the bench. In other words, if they don't serve a purpose, they won't be brought up. If Reed's not going to serve a purpose for the next 2 weeks or so, I doubt he gets a call up.

I didn't get it when the announcer said "he wears his hat to the left in honor to his father who was a fisherman."?? did I hear that wrong? Why does a fisherman mean hat to the left?

I think it had something to do with how his father wore his hat while fishing.

An unhealthy infatuation with A.J. Reed and J.D. Davis.

Maybe, but a lot of times veteran clubs get sick of it.

I wonder if Kemp played goalie before. That was a pretty good form dive for a keeper.
