To come back from down 4-0 to win 11-4 is an awesome win against anyone let alone the team that is nipping at your heels. Maybe our most important win so far this year. Kind of had a postseason feel to it.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1340820/amp That’s right. Four teams have done it in the past — including 2 of the last 3 Astros teams (2017 and 2015 vintages). Gattis, Springer, Altuve, Correa, and Marwin have been part of it since the 2015 team. Those guys just missed really setting the record — Marisnick and Jed Lowrie each had 9 HR. They just missed landing 13 players with double digit bombs. Other fun facts - Max Stassi hit 1 HR for that 2015 team. Ted’s brother hit 13.
Starting to feel like last year when the Astros were coming out of that slump. Love that the team seems to be having fun again. Hope things keep trending up.
Today was a frustrating, unhappy day for me, but at the very end of it, this game has managed to put a smile on my face. And I'm really grateful to the Astros for that. Bregman's batting line is ridiculous. And let's not forget that top notch 5-4-3 double play he started in the field as well. Still, I'll say that the five runs in the 3rd was possibly my favorite thing I've seen all season. Down four against your division rival and the hottest team in baseball was a dire place. Putting up five immediately in response was unexpected and brilliant. Even more so, they did it in the best way: by stringing together hits to drive each other in one-by-one. Home runs are deadly but fickle. Putting solid hits from good at-bats together is how you always give yourself a chance to be dangerous, and it's a much better sign to me. Now, as my mom would and probably will say, "Let's hope they've saved some runs for tomorrow."
Is Springer's biggest weakness low and away ? His long 8th inning AB featured each pitch in that area.
It was important not only to win but more so to win big, to demoralize the opposition. I figure the A's will soon run out of gas, while the Astros seem to have gotten their second wind.
Assuming he doesn't go into a massive slump to finish out, he'll be the DH next year. They could always move Yuli to the bench and sign a new DH/1B, but I doubt it. The big needs will be catcher (probably a starter) and Marwin replacement.
Hey everyone! I'm going to the game tonight. It'll be the first time in a while I've been able to go and my wife and I are totally pumped. Does anyone have any recommendations on parking? I know there are some good restaurants/bars that offer free parking and shuttle rides to the game. Can anyone comment on how reliable they are? Fortunately, I should be able to get downtown around 6 pm, which I assume is plenty early enough. Any advice on the cheapest, easiest parking options is welcome. Thanks in advance, everyone. Go 'Stros...
Why wouldn't you just platoon Yuli and White as 1B/DH? Are you expecting a big drop from Yuli? I feel like the 2 of them cover the position and the DH quite well. It allows for more flexibility as well, not having to carry Gattis who probably doesn't even carry a glove with him anymore. That had to be a huge kidney punch to the A's. Come in the hottest team in MLB, go up 4-0...lose 11-4 in a game where you have to burn many relievers. If we can get to them early tonight, it's going to get ugly for them.
