Ya don’t see Ellington being released at this point. Also think they’ll keep another OL whether Kyle Fuller or Lamm.
Wouldnt it be wise for a kicker learn how to be a great punter. They could corner the damn kicking position on the team and be valuable as hell cause the team would only need to carry one player. Pat must be on his pain meds when he came out with that cause I agree, aint no way Ellington is getting cut.
I've always thought it somewhat curious. It's not like its a supremely taxing job to be either. And one would expect a great field goal kicker could easily be a great punter, too. Maybe it's just mental, and better to just have the FG kicker mentally prepared to solely make fgs.
I'm pretty much in agreement with the QB, S, CB, ILB, OLB, DL, NT, and Specialty positions. I would carry 4 RBs and only keep Miller and Pope. One of Blue and Ervin will be cut when Foreman returns. I would not keep Prosch. I don't see the benifits of keeping a player at such a limited use position, and Prosch doesn't offer anything else really. I don't really recall him making an impact on special teams either. The TE group is fine with me, but I would go with a 4th (available because no FB). Actually have a true blocking TE to go along with your pass catchers. They can utilize him as a 6th lineman or a FB. You would also have insurance for when Griffin gets hurt, like he does every year. My only gripe at the WR positions is keeping Coates. I like his size/speed combination, but he simply hasn't shown me enough. I'd replace him with Elington. While he has dropped passes, I just like what Elington offers. I'm not one of you guys that wants Braxton out of here. He's actually shown a lot of growth. He's been the most consistent WR this preseason, and of all the WRs in the offense, he's the only one who knows every position. Everyone else is specialized in their specific role. And lets not forget that he converted to WR. He's basically been behind the 8-ball since he was drafted. As for the Offensive line, I would prefer to look outside the team for depth. I'm fine with keeping Davenport, Rankin, and Henderson. The 4th tackle should be anyone other than who else is remaining on this roster. Lamm and Slade are garbage. I'd prefer another guard in the mix for backup depth, but I'm okay with giving Q and Mancz another year. Mancz had that one outlier of a year in 2016 where he was actually pretty solid. He followed that up with some abysmal play the following seasons. Quessenberry is a whole other story. He was looking to take a starters role his rookie year and then he got hurt, and then he got sick. He's been fighting to get back since he's been healthy. It'll be interesting to see how progresses with his 2nd consecutive healthy season.
