Verlander needs to do better He's a HOF, but he's looking less of Nolan-Clemens territory than 6 weeks ago. Yeah, High Standard, but he seemed that level's standard, Give him extra rest between starts henceforth entering playoffs.
AL West would have 4 good teams if Angels could get Pujols contract off the books. A terrible contract given to a 32 yr old that has put the Angels out of contention for a decade. They'e got a great lineup when healthy, but have no money to spend on pitching thanks to Pujols. And there's still 3 years left!
First thing I thought of. We'll never know if Osuna did that on his own or if it came from the dugout.
What you mean? Unless the Red Sox somehow collapse, the Yankees are playing in the wild card no matter what. We would play the Indians at home in the first round.
And as the Wild Card, they wouldn't get the home field advantage over us no matter what. The Red Sox have 90 wins on Aug 26th. That's nuts.
They would if they have a better record. They are only 3 games behind and more than likely the Astros would not win the division due to a decline in winning, so that gives the Yankees an opportunity to catch up. That being said, since the Astros finish the season in Baltimore, a road game in New York, may be preferable to a home game in Houston.
For one game, the disparity is effectively mitigated.... especially if you factor in the team not having to travel as far. In the end, it always comes down to the pitching matchup.
https://www.thoughtco.com/how-mlb-playoffs-work-321331 Now, if we're just talking about (G-d forbid) the Wild Card game, then you are correct. My assumption was that we were talking about the series as if the Astros win the West again.
McHugh hasn't been stretched out at all / is a great option out of the pen. Peacock, same thing. Even when he "started" he went 2. Framber pitched really well last time. Worth a shot.
