Still a long shot as of now, but I hope Beto can pull off the huge upset can beat "Lyin' Ted Cruz. That man basically bent over backward for Trump after Trump started attacking his family in the primaries. If he can't stand up to Trump after that, he can't stand up for anything.
Voter turnout in TX is dismal. I think it ranks 44th out of 50. More turnout on one side relative to past midterm could make the huge difference and as I said, I see energy for Beto.
You'd think Harvey would be a Cruz advantage... Beto doing the work to let folks he hasn't forgotten them.
Win or lose, I respect the hell out of how he's run his campaign. It's sad that a politician actually touring his district and not taking PAC money is some sort of novel concept.
He's just another vote for Schumer to direct. Just like Cruz is for McConnell. The names change but the system remains the same. I don't care how "charismatic" he is.
Maybe. You should ask him about it directly, or someone should. If he's just going to align with Schumer (in the unlikely event he wins), then why isn't he taking all the PAC-type money? You're suggesting his staying out of the big money game is just a dumb stunt and that he'll slavishly turn into a typical politician as soon as his fake gambit works. And who am I to complain about cynicism, but it's cynical.
Yep. That's exactly what I'm stating. Just like every other elected official. Its bend to the will of leadership and bring in a certain amount of money while sucking up to lobbyist or see yourself culled from the herd and primaried out at the behest of the party leadership. Oh and getting put on unimportant committees in your short time there. (Suggest you watch "The Swamp" on Facebook if you have it. It's an excellent while also a bit heartbreaking.)
Should Beto somehow win a seat coming from the state of Texas he will be a star. The party will be in debt to him. He will likely agree with Schumer on most things but he won't be a slave to lobbyists and won't have to fall into line for Schumer or anyone else. He will be such a huge star that he can pretty much govern on his promises. You are entitled to believe that he will become a corporate politician but that is your guess and doesn't seem to be what he's promised or his mode of operation thus far. We know that his opponent is already a corporate politician bound to the lobbyists.

Congressional staff term limits 4. Defining and Limiting the power given to Senate and Congressional leadership. Just for starters.
Looks to me like you're for centralizing power to the Executive Branch. Why do you think that diluting checks and balances is good for the country? Maybe this is for another thread...
It's disrespectful to put that strawman on other posters. We've had non-corporate-owned politicians before, in the heartland. It's not a messiah-like event, just welcome when it happens. We won't know any time soon, b/c Cruz probably wins reelection.
