Other than the occasional blowout, you can't really expect this team these days to even overcome a 2 run deficit. It's crazy.
Given they’ve lost their last 7 to Oakland and Seattle a sweep is a very real possibility in Seattle. This team is totally mentally checked out right now and basically has rolled over and quit. Swinging at trash, tossing meatballs and shaky fielding. Not sure who they could beat right now.
Not to be the Pollyanna on Verlander, but he's tended to have late season malaises in the last few seasons. I think it's just boredom. He knows what he needs to do to execute. Despite the home run issues, I'm not concerned about JV at all.
2-0 lead might as well be 8-0. Just tuned in and sucks knowing that it's the 2nd inning and the game is basically over already.
Verlander's gonna get called for a balk if he's not careful. Not much pause, if any, on a lot of these pitches.
The problem right now is we need JV to be a stopper. And a stopper for this lineup is 0 runs, unfair or not.
