Best Ridley Scott Movie?

I voted Gladiator myself but underrated is the Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven which I really liked. The theatrical not so much but its one of the few movies where the Director's cut does make it a completely different movie.

 

Several good movies on the list but to me it's not even close:

 

I voted alien, but only because aliens wasn’t a choice

 

Nor should it be, as Aliens was not directed by Scott, but rather James Cameron.

BHD would have been amazing if they hadn't given so many lines to freaking Josh Hartnett. That guy is the worst actor.

I can't even put that on Scott though. He is a director that places so much emphasis on casting there is no way it wasn't a studio decision to have Hartnett as the lead.

Loved that movie, had that Sicario feel.

 

Holy ****.... Today I found out that Tom Hardy was in Black Hawk Down. I own it and have watched it a hundred times(been awhile since the last time) and never realized it.

I also dont have a huge problem with Josh Hartnett as a lead. Not a great actor but not terrible. I liked Lucky Number Slevin.

 

I went with the Martian.... because he managed to take one of the best sci-fi books ever written, and not screw it up.

I actually liked Tony Scott's movies more than Ridley's.

 

His pep talk monologue is unwatchable. I remember a specific "cover me!!!" line that is also cringe.

The action scenes are huge and will never be topped. They had complete military support, the guys doing the flying are really from 160th SOAR, the guys jumping off the little birds are SOF, the guys fast roping are rangers. There are full scale model black hawks being blown up. real explosions.

You can also hear a bit of the joker theme in the hans zimmer score.

 

Love Alien, Gladiator and more, but voted
Blade Runner.

 

Gladiator. It's similar to a time when Australia crossed a kangaroo with a llama. And all you remember is that Tawny Kitten had enough Rye bread at that point to bow out.

 

Does "1984" count as honorable mention

 

Maybe not best, but most underrated. Most people have never heard of it.

Nobody has mentioned Kingdom of Heaven (and that's fine with me, but it wasn't bad.)

 

Blade Runner probably the most important. I enjoyed Gladiator more.

But honestly I'm not in love with that list. It's just ok.

 

Gladiator was a blatant rip-off of Braveheart. Surprised more people don't see this.

 

And they were both blatant ripoffs of Little Giants.
