You have no clue how I pay my respects. I never said I don't stand. I never said I don't say the pledge. I never said if I do or do not give money to groups like Wounded Warrior or have my kids perform an act of service on Memorial Day. What you know about my level of respect for our country and how I choose to show it is absolutely nada.

Ahhhh, the age old "decline in moral values" bulls*** conservatives have used over and over again to fight change...an outrage that usually comes in the form of fighting against expanding civil rights to those who have historically not been on equal footing. What is disrespectful to our country is arguing TO stifle speech. What is unpatriotic is saying that citizens don't have a right to protest injustices in a peaceful way.

Then why make the hard to believe claim "I didn't vote for trump"?

So, to be clear, because I don't want to put words in your mouth, is that you are ok with a 'standing' protest during the anthem (using your armband example) as long as it applies to a cause that you believe has truth behind it?

You can do a "standing protest" to just about anything, the issue is with the disrespect, not the foolish "cause". You just laugh at someone for their foolish "cause", but when they are being intentionally disrespectful, that's when people get angry about it. When the stated reason for not standing was to in effect show disrespect to the country, that's when people have a problem with it. If a person wore a pink ribbon to protest circumcision or whatever goofy ass "cause" they wanted to champion while not being disrespectful, I don't think anyone has a problem with it. If your stated intention for your protest is essentially "f*ck this country", like Kap's was.....well that's not the same.

This attack on law enforcement is false BUT the attack on the FBI (law enforcement) by the President of the United States is genuine?

Rather than worrying about whether a black 25 year old football player in leaning on a knee or standing, you should be concerned that the leader of the USA is attacking the highest branch of law enforcement in the United States so he can keep his butt from being impeached.

You should be more concerned that he's got a reason to attack the FBI due to their extreme unprofessionalism at the top of that organization. At least, in the past that would be reason for concern. Now I guess it's anything goes so long as they are giving foolish partisans false hope that grounds for impeachment will be invented.

You should be more concerned that the kneelers have a reason to protest law enforcement due to their systemic bias. At least, in the past that would be reason for concern. Now I guess anything goes as long as they are giving foolish partisans a diversion from what is really happening in this country, even if it is invented.

Well, if they actually had a legitimate reason to protest, I would be concerned. Since they are protesting a black criminal armed with a stolen gun being rightfully shot by a black police officer.....I mean, it's not really a concern.

Unfortunately there is much that suggests that racial inequality exists.

That’s not at all what I said. If an NFL team allowed the players to wear an armband for this particular cause, that’s up to them. I wouldn’t support it but I wound not find it disrespectful to this country like kneeling is.

Some people find it hard to believe I’m pro gun legislation and a Republican too. I happen to look at every situation without party bias. We had the 2 worst candidates ever this past presidential election

    You said this....

"If the players wore armbands (if their employer allowed this) while showing respect by standing, I'd have no issue. "

    I replied:

So, to be clear, because I don't want to put words in your mouth, is that you are ok with a 'standing' protest during the anthem (using your armband example) as long as it applies to a cause that you believe has truth behind it?

What did I misrepresent? I didn't include "the employer" simply because the player's current employer (the NFL) does allow their current protest.

Where did I say as long as it applies......

Edit I wouldn’t support the cause. But I would not find it disrespectful

But you voted for one of them. Don't worry, I did too. But oddly enough, you continue to defend him at every opportunity. But sure, its good you are pro-gun legislation... odd, I don't recall you posting support for gun legislation in past threads but looking forward to you doing so in the future.

Consult your physician, your Trump hardon has gone way past 4 hours.

You are dead wrong as usual about me not being vocal about gun legislation.

Gee... your trump-guilt is causing you to be very trump like in your posting. I can imagine it is embarrassing to have voted for him. And will be more so in the future, as history will not be kind in how it reports on these years...

Odd... seems to me trump is the president that has been dragging this inane story back into the news (usually when trying to draw attention from worse things he is doing). And every time he does, his defenders jump to the bait.

But hey, go back to pretending you didn't vote for him. Always good for a laugh...
