Doesn’t it look like they have this scared useless “we can’t play without Altuve” look in their faces?
Going for 8 straight losses at home tomorrow. Could have buried the Mariners but instead let them right back into it. A’s can be 3 out by the end of the night. The Astros have a run differential of 220 runs in roughly 110 games over the M’s yet are only 5 games up. This would be a good time for Luhnow to add a quality bat. Prospects in the range of 10-30 in our system are not so special that they can’t be dealt for a quality bat. Guys like Angel-Sierra aren’t that special in the big pitcher.
All that matters is get to the postseason. Hopefully postseason experience is on our side. But yeah, the offense this year is so different from last year's. Regression plus fatigue. Even Altuve's numbers are down. Breggie is on that home run derby curse.
Something is missing. Definitely looks like he is the heart and soul of this team. They're a mediocre team without him right now.
The Astros are officially in trouble. If they get swept tomorrow, they are in big trouble. Very disappointing.
Well.. when I was in Vegas in May I put money on the Indians since they dropped to like 14/1 or 16/1 to win the World Series. I like my pick right now.
They are missing Altuve, Springer, Marisnick, McCann and it takes Correa awhile to get his timing right. The Astros are missing a lot of key pieces. When they are all healthy they can be dangerous but we lack the depth in our line up to withstand injuries or a number of guys struggling. That is why I have wanted another good bat in the line up through trade. Even if they didn’t play every night, it would prevent us from having to play guys like Davis and Tucker.
Yeah definitely the injuries are an issue. Even at full strength the offense has been pretty up and down and has been riding great pitching for most of the year. I agree another bat has been needed for this team, even when fully healthy.
Yeah, fire Hudgens. Yes, I know we won the WS with him as our hitting coach but remember, it was always Beltran (and to an extent Cora) who the players would always come to for discussions about hitting. Both of them being gone has made a difference, and Boston's offensive surge can be credited to Cora (as well as Martinez). Beltran for Hitting Coach!
Went to the game. Sad state of affairs when a 1 run deficit feels like 10 runs. Especially at home. Offense has been so bad so often even when fully healthy.
As I said, just get to the postseason. Hopefully our bats wake up when the stakes are higher. We'll see.
Astros seem to ride emotions more than most teams. Same thing has happened the last few years. We need a booster and momentum heading into the playoffs. Think we have buttons that can be pushed, but something has to push them. Young studs haven't worked so far, although Whitley could provide. But that's wishful thinking.
Yet, they win away from home. Stros need to figure out whatever is hindering them in Houston. Both the pitching and hitting has been affected.
