Whatever you say man, I'm too busy watching spoon to care about this ridiculousness right now.

(spoon is the new name for American football because apparently words are arbitrary and you can change their meaning on a whim)

I agree it is so dumb when people call Sanders a socialist.

I would argue that it's worse when he calls himself one....it can fool people into thinking that he knows what he's talking about. Once upon a time I made that mistake. When he claims to be a Socialist, you just have to understand that he doesn't actually know what that means.

Apparently challenging someone to a debate is the same as sexual harassment. This woman is so stupid

Not from Scandinavia, bud. Maybe you are content to be better than Pakistan or rural Mexico.

If they decided to implement a socialist economy, you can bet that would change in a hurry. Hell, things are already starting to change now that they've taken on a decent number of immigrants and refugees.....not to mention that they are starting to have an illegal immigration problem so they no longer have a homogeneous and wealthy population anymore, as such crime is starting to rise particularly when it comes to rape (and other sex crimes), assault, and robbery which is forcing them to pay more than ever before when it comes to policing their citizens and jailing criminals.....and they still pay next to nothing for their own defense, instead having others pay those costs for them.

If Scandinavian countries had to deal with the burdens the US faces, there's no way their welfare state model could exist. It was basically a gimped version of capitalism that worked when they were in a position to cut a bunch of corners that other countries simply can't....while they were able to still cut those corners.

That said, despite the fact that the Nordic model is infeasible in the US, it's still better than ANY legitimately socialist plan.

Good on her, smart on her.

She has exactly 0 to gain from such a debate. He's not running against her so she has little reason to debate him. Debates are such a fake way for anyone to prove their point and are more about gotcha moments than any actual discussion and she can do more campaigning in that time she'd prepare and have a debate.

Shapiro just wants to catch her in a GOTCHA moment.

It's sad that the right is going to twist this into her calling him sexist, which she did not. She said "LIKE" which means she was making an analogy, a comparison, because up until that point she was completely ignoring him, as she should. Politicians do not make a habit of debating random citizens just like Boxers don't make a habit of accepting random fights...see, this is a simile, an analogy. I didn't call her a boxer, it's just a comparison.

Meanwhile, look at how AOC has moved on from this and Shapiro's timeline is now obsessed with her.

AOC just buried him, cleaned her hands of him, on to the next one. I love how focused she is about her message and wastes little time with dudes like Shapiro. Healthcare, education, nothing needs to be debated here.

It's the same as wasting someone's ****ing time while tethering yourself to their professional and public track record, which justifies every bit as hostile a response in the adult world.

It just means these are the most visible and possibly marketable candidates in either party, so you have to associate the worst or least moderate traits with them to stimulate independent voters or low information readers.

I agree because she'd get her ass kicked. She's not ready for prime time.

Perhaps if SHE HERSELF didn't make the comparison you'd have a point...but she did. She could have politely declined using any excuse she wanted...the most obvious being she has too many commitments at the moment to debate anyone other than her opponent.

    Nope.

She brought up "catcalls" as some sort of weird excuse insinuating that any man who would dare to challenge her and her beliefs in a debate are sexist to do so.

    I call bullshit.

Notice how easy it is to lead the little Bobbies around by appeals to racism. The Trumps of the world really play them.

This also makes it so easy to lead them into supporting stupid wars as Bobbie did.

Shapiro is just another Koch Bro "intellectual" trying to make a living advancing their agenda and building their brand. I would be surprised if Shapiro doesn't have a billionaire backer.

Nope. She'd wipe the floor with him, evident in how his timeline is still all about her after her snarky comment.

She used the classic Jay-Z tactic. Waste a line or 3 on em, then dismiss.

Debates are about gotcha's moment and she won this battle because the more time he spends talking about her, retweeting tweets about her, the more she wins.

What does her bringing up the comparison have anything to do with it? Rappers do this all the time, "I'm a smash you like I did your girl last night..." doesn't mean he's actually going to have sex with his opponent.

Nope. She didn't give an excuse at all. She merely said that just like catcalling, she's ignoring ...AND just like catcalling he feels entitled to this debate or some attention. I don't think she had to say anything at all.

Good thing about AOC is she don't care about the opinions of people rooted on the right. She knows no matter what she does you'll dislike her, so why try to appease you in any way?

I mean just look at this, AOC insults Shapiro and the right complains about her not being polite or cordial...Meanwhile, Trump is on twitter insulting people daily.

Oh yes I know, he's another of these that gets off on being an intellectual and all of his fans think because they like him that makes them smarter too!

He's against Identity politics...except when he uses it himself to excuse some of the things he says "I'm Jewish..."

And he's another guy that hates Trump yet sides on him with every possible thing.

Literally nothing I said was racist dipshit. It's clear that you had no intelligent response, not that I'd have expected one from you, and that's why you've gone this direction.

The ONLY reason this is true is because she's intellectually inferior. It's smart of her to understand her shortcomings and understand that she'd be exposed if she actually had to debate her beliefs. If she were intellectually sound, it would be a great opportunity to push her ideology on a larger audience and enhance her national image.

It is sad the left immediately pulls out the race card when they lose an argument. Of course they are also now using the "Russian" card as an excuse. I wonder what excuse card they will use next?

    LOL

    That's not how debates work.

This whole idea that debates are about 'which idea wins out' is so silly.

There is a reason why actual physicists don't debate flat earthers. There is a reason why when Bill Nye decided to debate Ken Hamm the entire scientific community groaned 'Please, no."

There is no debating dogma. No matter what she does you will call her stupid blah blah blah etc etc. There is not a SINGLE thing she can say that will make her appeal to you in a debate.

Her audience right now is pretty large, nothing gained by punching down.

The whole right's tactic of "DEBATE ME OR ELSE IT PROVES YOUR IDEAS ARE BAD!" is so stupid. It's funny because White Nationalists do this same crap. "DEBATE US OR IT PROVES YOUR IDEAS ARE BAD AND OURS ARE RIGHT!" I'm sure you wouldn't agree with it if they did it, so the same applies here.

Whether they debate or not is completely irrelevant to the validity of their ideas.

Again, just because Neil Tyson doesn't debate some Flat Earther doesn't mean that he has validated the idea of a Flat Earth. It means he finds no use in debating it. In fact, the argument is that debating the idea validates it by making it seem discussion worthy.

Finally. She does not need Shapiro to push her ideology. On the flipside, he doesn't need her either. The entire thing is pointless.
