It's not that he called in reinforcements. It's that he asked a person that repeatedly called him a liar, said nasty things about his wife, and furthered an idiotic conspiracy theory about his father. How do you look that person in the face and shake their hand? It says to me that Cruz (not that I didn't already think this about him) has no shame, has no morals, has no standard that he holds even himself up to. He's essentially apologizing to trump for trump saying the things he did.
