Of all pro athletes NBA players are pretty generous.

Of all pro athletes, NBA players make the most income per annum.

Just saying... in-kind donations offer big tax savings. :D

    That said, good for CP3.

Why can't we just say that it's awesome for players to give money back (to their alma maters or otherwise). Instead we have to point out "how big the tax savings are", or how "it's the least they could do after all that money X team gave him". Despite how comparatively little we make, how much money have we given back to our respective schools???

CP3 is following LeBron's lead on philanthropy. Hopefully he will do even more in the future. He's got the money and smarts to make a big impact.

So he has the money to donate to his community but he was unwilling to give Tilman a paycut so we can reduce our luxury tax bill?

What's wrong with admitting the personal benefits of 501(c)(3) contributions while also giving credit to individuals who've busted their asses amassing their personal wealth?

The tax rules are set up this way for a reason and many of us have benefitted -- especially those of us who have given back to our Alma Mater -- albeit on a much smaller scale.

    It's a win-win for everyone.

Maybe he can donate $2.5million to Tilmann so that Tilmann can afford to allow Morey to do something.

The amount you make in tax savings is far less than the amount you give.

Agreed. Let's hope the generosity continues to grow.
