I missed the 8th so I didn't realize he pitched in the 8th. I was going to go back and edit my post but you beat me to it.

Honestly, the fastball he threw him that he fouled off in the same AB was worse given he was sitting on the fastball and got a cookie.

So glad they won, I was about ready to scratch my eyes out with the lineup. Love Marwin.

And Kalas *still* has no idea how to judge a fly ball.

Shifts only work if you don't put the pitcher at a disadvantage in other ways. Setting people up with pitches is great in theory - but that means you have to pitch all over the zone, which is what you're suggesting they avoid. The idea that you have to pitch a certain way to maximize the shift would just result in a worse outcome than just pitching regularly once teams figure it out because it gives the hitters a bigger advantage than it gives to the defense. Your results will be (in order of best to worst):

    Pitching regularly with shift (best)
    Pitching regularly without shift
Pitching only or even mostly to the shift with shift (worst)

Yeah exactly. The bullpen has become a real strength. If Lance is able to come back it just gets stronger. Devo too. Sipp and Harris should be used sparingly.

They had the shift on Crawford and proceeded to throw every single pitch of the AB away. Where the **** do you think he's gonna hit it? Might want to put a fielder there then, maybe?

Look away, children. Osuna is adult stuff, real-world stuff. Morally ambiguous, nuanced, complicated. But can be redemptive. Wheat and tares.

I imagine the clubhouse is more pleasant too. It’s funny you never heard his teammates praise him that much, if ever. Perhaps I missed it or the guys were never asked about Ken.

Not really, hes just a guy who pummels women.

Theres no nuance about it, unless you're trying to justify your own violent streak. Let me guess, she set you up?

Great clutch win, these were a dime a dozen in 2017 so you dont appreciate them as much until you go through a long drought.

Sometimes they would. Other times, maybe they try to take advantage of the fact that *he* also thinks they are going to pitch more in. If you're thinking they should pitch in, then he's probably thinking the same thing. The shift has been proven over and over to work, and it's never built around pitching to the shift - I'm not sure why there's a debate about it.

Sipp has pitched very well and they should continue to use him in my opinion.

Did you watch that entire AB? Crawford began fouling balls off to the left side clearly devoted to trying to do exactly what he ended up doing. The pitch sequence was just bad - they didn’t once throw in on him even if it was just a waste pitch to make him they “oh they may actually throw somewhere besides the outside corner”.

He’ll get some burn against lefties in the playoffs until he proves he can’t handle it.

Ive always wondered what the data says about the shift with 2 strikes since that is when as a hitter you are much more inclined to try to choke up and go opposite field
