Can the Heat take back Nene and add a protected 1st or a couple 2nds.

Toss a pick in there to get a third team needing some scoring to take on Waiters.

Maybe have to lose a pick(s) to move on from Waiters or just deal with it as extra depth. That's a team I'd like to battle with.

Ok assuming there's not a disgruntled superstar complaining for 6 months?

Last year, Kyrie was traded to the Celtics on August 30th. If you want to exclude disgruntled superstars like you did Kawhi for some reason, Portland salary dumped Crabbe to Brooklyn on July 25th.

I don't know why you'd consider this a major trade. All three names involved are role players. It's a salary dump by Miami. James Johnson is the only useful player and he's not even close to an all star.

Wow. I didn't dare to hope Heat would entertain this trade but if so, need to keep Waiters. Not just EGo insurance but in MDA system could become a legit asset. IHis ability on D is underrated and having another iso threat on this team is gilding on a work of art. If possible give up VE instead of Qi.

    CP3-EGo-Melton
    Harden-Waiters-MCW
    PJ-Ennis-Clark
    Melo-JJ-Qi
    Capela-Nene-Hartenstein

Rockets are just one legit Clint backup away from shocking NBA again.

Did you watch the WCF against GSW? Rockets died without another iso threat. Rockets would be able to attack in waves of multiple iso threats. They would be 3 deep, that's a great thing.

James Johnson and Ryan Anderson are definitely rotation players on playoff teams.

Besides we were one game away from being in the finals. If we add a solid rotational player vs the Warriors that's the difference between wining and losing.

Lastly to my original question I was just curious if it could be done because I feel like there would no real reason to make a trade Rn. Since deadlines make trades

Waiters is not a true wing, only 6-4. He is a combo guard like EGo and Harden.

    Miami
    Ryan Anderson
    2019- 1st Round Pick (Hou)

Miami gets out of the last year of James Johnson's deal and gets a late 1st to boot.

    Milwaukee
    Dion Waiters
    Zhou Qui

The Bucks move on from Snell who has been up and down but needs a change of scenery.

    Houston

    James Johnson
    Tony Snell

Houston gets Johnson who can guard all of the front court positions and operate as a small ball five. Snell will operate as another 3 and D guy.

    Just an idea.

I envision the trade will go do down as a few alternatives.

1st have to figure out which teams might be willing to take on contracts of Anderson, Waiters / Tyler Johnson.

That is, which teams can avoid luxury tax and absorb bad contracts attached with 1st round picks plus do not plan to really be "players" in 2019 (possibly 2020) free agency market

I think that list narrows down to: Sacramento or Memphis or Orlando or Chicago

    1) 3 team (SAC, MIA, HOU)
SAC: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Dion Waiters (MIA) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + 2019 MIA (top 15 protected) + 2020 HOU 2nd + rights to Gentille (HOU)
MIA: Zach Randolph (SAC) + Iman Shumpert (SAC) + rights to Vince Edwards (HOU)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Ryan McGruder (MIA)
Miami could also send Tyler Johnson to Sac instead of Dion Waters who would then send Koufas to MIA in addition to Randolph & Shumpert

2a) 3 team (MIA, HOU, MEM)
MIA: JaMychal Green (MEM) + Garrett Temple (MEM) + Andrew Harrison (MEM)
MEM: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Ryan McGruder (MIA) [TPE] + Vince Edwards (HOU) [TPE] + 2019 HOU 1st + rights to Sergio Llull (HOU)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Dion Waiters (MIA) + 2019 MIA 1st (top 15 protected)

2b) 3 team (MIA, HOU, MEM)
MIA: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Andrew Harrison (MEM) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + rights to Vince Edwards (HOU)
MEM: Dion Waiters (MIA) + Ryan McGruder (MIA) [TPE] + 2020 HOU 2nd + rights to Sergio Llull (HOU)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + JaMychal Green (MEM)

3a) 3 team (MIA, HOU, ORL)
MIA: Nikola Vucevic (ORL) + Terrence Ross (ORL) + Vince Edwards (HOU)
    ORL: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Dion Waiters (MIA) + Ryan McGruder (MIA) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + 2019 MIA (top 15 protected) + 2020 HOU 2nd + $1.5M cash (from MIA)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Jonathan Simmons (ORL)

3b) 3 team (MIA, HOU, ORL)
MIA; Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Terrence Ross (ORL) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + rights to Vince Edwards (HOU)
ORL: Tyler Johnson (MIA) + 2019 MIA (top 15 protected)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Jonathan Simmons (ORL)

    4) 3 team (MIA, HOU, CHI)
MIA: Robin Lopez (CHI) + Omar Asik (CHI)
    CHI: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + Dion Waiters (MIA) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + 2019 MIA (top 15 protected) + 2020 HOU 2nd
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Ryan McGruder (MIA) [TPE]

    5) 2 team (MIA, HOU) (most likely)
MIA: Ryan Anderson (HOU) + 2019 HOU 1st (unprotected) + rights to Vince Edwards (HOU)
HOU: James Johnson (MIA) + Dion Waiters (MIA)

Morey would then flip Waiters + 2 2nds (2020, 2021) at trade deadline to
    ATL for Dewayne Dedmon
    CHA for Marvin Williams
    CLE for Jordan Clarkson
ORL for Jonathan Simmons + Jarell Martin
MEM for JaMychal Green + Andrew Harrison (would include rights to Sergio Llull)
    PHO for Tyson Chandler

Just some thoughts while we wait for it to go dine!

    Or...
    HOU IN: Johnson & Bazemore
    MIA IN: Anderson & Nene
    ATL IN: Waiters

Throw in whatever picks to make it work. Too lazy to look them up or explain reasons.

Waiters is owed $40M over next 3 yrs
    Ryno is $42M over 2

Don't see how that isn't worth adding unique rotation guy like JJ to help DEF void at F left by Ariza?

    Off-season NET would then be:

    PF: + Melo - Ryno
    F: + JamesJ - Ariza
    SF: + Ennis & Edwards - Luc
    G: + Waiters - JoeJ
PG: + MCW & Melton - whatever his name was

    IMO:
Melo is a potentially huge upgrade
JaJ + Ennis vs Ariza + Luc is basically a wash
And we upgraded backcourt depth behind the Big 3

Considering the bargain to lock up CC, paying CP3 $40M per hurts a little less ...
Hard not to commend Morey on yet another job well done

Really? Maybe you should call Daryl Morey and Dantoni and inform them that Ryan Anderson is "definitely a rotation player on playoff teams" seeing as Anderson barely got on the court for the Rockets this past postseason. Under 6 minutes per game avg vs warriors, under 7 mins per vs utah and multiple DNP's in both series.
