Veterans Speak Out Against The Militarization Of Sports

The nexus of militarism and capitalism. It's basically who we are now. We need to spend more money on a perpetual state of war and less money on education and health care for the poor so we can celebrate how awesome we are.

 

I've said it before, but the Federal Government paying sports teams/leagues to put on sham displays of "patriotism" is much more offensive than athletes kneeling or standing or doing jumping jacks or whatever.

 

I can't help but wonder if it there would be any real displays of "patriotism" if they weren't getting paid. I fell for the sham before knowing the truth, and as a Vet, a little sad. All those years I actually thought sports teams did it out of respect and pride.
