Nope it was casually racist, yet minimized by the fact that she was responding herself to online trolls and using the same rhetoric the trolls were. Context matters.
the tweets I see don't show a reply but a general statement being retroactively painted as her being the victim. Her not knowing that, and using technology as a means to spread racism disqualify her from having a opinion worthy of such a position. IMO
Other races that aren't white in the United States can be racist. The difference is that the racism of other races doesn't hurt the education, employment, promotions, standing in the criminal justice system, etc. That is because whites hold almost all of the power positions and their racism has more of an effect. Racism by any race is bad. It is something that we should strive to eradicate. I'm all for making that change. But racism against non-whites hurts much more than feelings. Racism against whites only hurts their feelings.
Is she going to write about culture or tech? I hate this trend of looking up what non-PC comments someone has posted on social media, and using that to go after their job. I’ve mostly associated this unfortunate behavior with the lefty/liberal crowd, but I guess everyone does it now.
I'm not going after her job I was just shooting down the whataboutism when referring to the baseball player.
Wow. That's maybe the most appalling thing I've seen suggested on Clutchfans in my time here. I'm sincerely shocked it came from you FB.
When I said earlier that this is culturally acceptable racism, I meant it. The same people who would lose their **** about anything approaching racism directed at a different group just shrug their shoulders and say "meh" when it is directed at certain groups. It really kills their credibility in other conversations, but it is what it is.
Not a first for the NYT: But what else would you expect from a company that took a brown reporter's idea for a story and gave it to a white reporter? They are part of the regressive left -- tough on those pesky "Evangelicals" for peaceably assembling but failing to call out the insane state of the Islamic Middle-East. They write soft pieces for illegal immigrants, yet the NYT calls home a city that has the most segregated schools in the nation, along with some of the highest rents in the nation. They share have more common with the "don't shade me, bro" Berkeleyans than the virtuous caretakers of liberalism they play themselves to be.
I don’t think the Times will lose any readers from this, so no biggie. The opposition gets most of their information from the titles on shared Facebook posts and YouTube clips.
Conservatives created identity politics. Pointing it out isn't identity politics just like pointing out the rich are screwing poor isn't class warfare, it's the actual rich screwing the poor that is the class warfare. Dolts.
I agree, people who still read the NYT likely don't care about racism, they are likely primarily focused on tribalism.
It is not me that I loathe and I was mostly kidding in that retort. If you can’t see “racism” against whites, to a great degree, as a reaction to racism from whites, then I don’t know what to tell you.
