We know enough facts to draw a fairly reasonable conclusion.

I'm sure he did extensive research into Osuna's *side* of the case (and has admitted as much). But being a MLB general manager does not grant him special access to pending court cases.

None of this absolves Osuna. Nor the Astros. Every single domestic violence case rides of the willingness of the victim to participate in a meaningful way. They often do not, for whatever reason. And when that happens, it opens the door for attorneys to negotiate - not litigate - the case.

Osuna may indeed skirt this - and may do so legitimately. But there's almost no chance this will go to trial and be litigated. Again, a third party called police; the police arrested and charged Osuna; MLB suspended him 75 games; the Blue Jays traded him for pennies on the dollar.

You - all of you - can keep screaming THERE ARE NO FACTS! But people don't readily burn ~$2.65MM, which is how much Osuna's suspension cost him, because they're innocent and, whatevs.

What if he knew he was out of line (in some aspect), is genuinely remorseful for the situation even happening, and thought the best way to put this behind him was to take his punishment like a man (knowing an appeal would make things worse in an already terrible situation) and let the legal proceedings go their proper course?

It is just as plausible that this is the case as it is to assume that he beat the crap out of her. Until we get the (I know you don't want to hear this) facts, no one knows for sure.

So, your point is that no team should give him a second chance after he serves his suspension?

At a much higher price? The price for Osuna a week before he completed his suspension is likely almost the same as a week after he completed his suspension. I don't see how that materially changes anything.

It isn't "what abouting" you made a big deal about the Astros trading for Osuna when he trade value was low........ it isn't that uncommon for a team to do that.

Yeah, that angle makes no sense to me at all.

Also, there's no guarantee you would be able to trade for him after his suspension is over, with that pesky trade deadline and all.

Hey Now has made every wack angle imaginable. First, Osuna could be a locker room cancer. Then, the case is still pending. Then, it's the craven Astros.

He's angry and is grasping at whatever he can conjure.

    CRAVEN !!!

Curious, would the Astros have traded for Osuna had the Yankees not have gotten Britton?

    Did he, though?

I think the issue many people have on here is the immediate jumping to this conclusion.

The Astros wanted him and almost traded for him a year ago so yes probably.

Unlike Giles, Osuna has excellent feel and command of his pitches. Something Luhnow values.

Hey remember that time that Kobe brutally raped that girl and no one talked about it?

The first few times I am sure some will boo him... until he gets the third out and everyone cheers.

Yeah but that's not as big of a deal as this 23 year old being accused of doing something that constitutes assault....maybe. You have to keep in mind what the serious allegations are and what are NBD.

Oh how so? They only thing that was reported was the Astros were interested in Osuna at the trade deadline last year. Where was it said that the Jays almost traded Osuna?
