I may be misinterpreting your post. If so, apologies in advance. However, to the extent your intent is to imply that OP is purposefully lying, that seems pretty harsh given his history on this board. It could be a lot of things: a) Tillman may have brushed off questions with a vague one-liner; b) OP's friend is excited and hyped it some; c) it's true; d) it's not true, but what OP is saying about what he heard is true, etc. I know I don't post, and this is likely the wrong way to start, but it seems like we should give folks the benefit of the doubt rather than implying they are liars which is a strong accusation (again, that may not be your point).
I watched an episode of Buy Out Rescue and John Taffer had a spy cam on Melo right when the buyout went down. Taffer burst from watching the action from his car and started screaming loudly at Melo about being a shitty Free Agent. Taffer told him that LaLa would be shopping at Walmart if he didn't get his act together. Taffer then went over with Melo what his Free Agent pitch should be. To test Melo's new game plan, Taffer had a bunch of GM's belly up to the table all at the same f'n time to listen to Melo's demands. Melo caved to the pressure. Taffer reamed his ass again. Taffer made Melo turn his back and then told Melo to turn around and lo and behold there was a Rockets logo. He then told him to go talk to Morey I think we're good or maybe I left the TV on after I read the first post here and then went to sleep.
Melo tried to force a trade here last year, that is a FACT. Even Nene thought it was a done deal when he posted the pic of Melo in a Rockets jersey. And Melo didn’t choose OKC, he gave the Knicks 4 teams and the Knicks chose, because, in case you forgot, the Knicks front office actively sabotaged their relationship with Melo under Phil Jackson. He once again leveraged a buyout this year and he met with 2 teams, the Rockets and Heat. Another FACT. The Heat have stayed they are no longer interested. FACT. By process of elimination that leaves one team that he actually met with that is still interested. You’re trying to deliberately decontextualize these events to act like nothing is true to add to the speculation that he won’t come here. You have no facts on your side; just doubt and implying fake news.
Personally I don't know what I believe. It varies depending on my mood tbh. Some days I believe Burt Steele and others I think Woj is full of ****. I'm not saying OP is making this up but I am saying I don't believe the information. Whether is was OP or his friend doesn't matter. Every off season (particular this off season and last) a lot of people come out and have insider info. OP isn't the first and wont be the last.
You might want to pick a different fictional answer, because a thread title "[Tilman] Q: "Is Melo Signing" A: 'I don't know''" with post body "Still a lot of contract stuff to work out" with confusion emoji, would create the same level of BBS disturbance.
soooo......Someone reports what a friend tells them (usually negative) about a player.......Then watch Clutch fans create all kinds of negative scenarios to which they hold that player accountable for. People.....being open to play a "bench role" came from the media, not a coach, GM or team.....This is ALL MEDIA. Media members who barely watch the game they report on believe that Melo is done and thinks he should come off the bench at this stage...THE MEDIA. Now fans want MELO to submit to the idea of him coming off the bench even though NO TEAM, GM or Coach have been on record saying anything of sorts. Classic
actually i think this telephone game analogy is the most plausible. melo could be a tough negotiator. he hasn't signed yet so he can leverage his role and minutes by saying he will start talking to other teams. its a business. nothing is guaranteed until he signs. just ask the mavs to lost DAJ and ferrel after they agreed to sign. in the end i think we can offer melo the starting job. he is really good in the 1st quarter and we struggle to get off to good starts in the first and 3rd. i do think he can help us in that role. but as far as when and how much he plays, that has to be based on merit if you want to play for a contender. if you just want shots and minutes and don't care about winning i'm ok letting him walk and spending whatever picks and young players it takes to bring in 2 defensive forwards with ryno's contract.
Well. At least now people aren't on the: "Do something Morey!" train Now it's the, "do something Tilman" wagon.
Tilman just now on CNBC (financial channel)... Was asked about Melo signing and he took a deep breath, sighed and said "No deal is done until it's signed". Then he immediately changed the subject and started making some fluff comments about how the NBA was doing well. He's on pretty frequently, they talk to him about Casino related things. At least once a month I'd say.
This Melo stuff is the most frustrating thing since all those Bledsoe/Dragic trade rumors that dragged on for years.
Tell me again why we want Melo... https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/...ony-houston-rockets-james-harden-mike-dantoni But that was then and this is now, right? Surely he’s reconsidered. Yeaaaaah … no. In a recent interview with The Undefeated, Anthony said he knows “how to play this game of basketball” and when he’s “ready to take that role, then I’ll take that role.” “Only I know when it’s best for me to take that role,” Anthony added. “I’m not going to do that in a situation where I still know my capabilities and what I can do.” How much Xanax can you take and still coach a professional basketball team? Asking for a friend who looks a lot like Mike D’Antoni. All right, forget the bench thing for now. Is he at least cool with being the third option again? Anthony was asked that very question after the Thunder’s season ended. If you’re a Rockets fan, maybe don’t read the following quote, or pretend like he meant it only as applied to OKC and not to the Rockets, where he will surely reverse course on everything he’s ever done and said and become the model selfless, team-first guy Houston hopes. “As far as being effective as that type of player, I don’t think I can be effective as that type of player,” Anthony said. “It wasn’t no strategy to me being here, me being a part of the actual system and what type of player.” What could go wrong?
