I think he'll officially be a Rocket by Friday.

My guess is the news breaks some time today.

you’re talking as if Melo not coming here is now official

after all the reporting that’s gone down, the comments from Harden, and Houston being his preferred destination for 2 straight summers, it would really be a shock if he didn’t come here

I guess Melo wants the starter's job plus the rest of the MLE, instead of the vet minimum. Or maybe, he just doesn't want to come to Houston
at all. CP3 and Harden have tried to make him feel comfortable playing with him. It's Carmelo's choice to make a decision that he thinks is in his best interest.

Does him signing later allow us to make roster moves or trades that we couldn't if we sign him? Not sure on how all of it works but maybe Morey is up to something and that is first then sign Melo?

Tillman plays a hand of black jack the size of Carmelos contract. If he dont want to get with the system.

    WELL BYE

The guy has not even signed with us yet and we've got smoke over his minutes and place in the starting lineup!

I would think it’s pretty common in this case to have the agent ask for a few demands before signing below market value. We do the same thing when we all buy houses or cars.

If a guy wants to buy your house well under list, and you are poised to take it, you’ll ask for a quick close, pay some closing, etc. it’s just business.

At this point I don’t see either party walking because Melo’s agent is making some demands in the contract negotiation. The Rockets can only say yes or no, and Melo will have to take it either way or feed the National narrative even greater after the news breaks that it was over a starting role.

I don’t doubt Tillman talked to patrons at a bar in Houston but we never know the exact tone and context around what was said but it’s not incredibly shocking either way for him to have said “we are still working on it”. Ask anyone that’s sold a house, you sweat it out and stress the most when your walking into the title company right before you get a check in hand.

Never understood why we didn't just give him the MLE. I will be very upset if we miss out on him again.

I believe @R0ckets03. He's been here forever and knows not to kid around with stuff like this. I think Melo's still going to sign, but I don't think the OP is making up what he heard via his pal at the bar. Crazier things have happened here over the years.

I believe it. Melo is nuts like that. Can't get over his phrase about practice.

Im really surprised at the reactions on tgis board in support of starter melo over the team concept.

I may be in the minority but i see melo's best role as coming off the bench for 20-25 min a game. If his ego cant handle that, too bad. Hes being well-paid to play this game; and theres not that many true contenders like houston.

Melodrama before hes even on the team? Someone should ask 6th man eric gordon how he feels about this nonsense
