otto porter is the best player out of all of these guys but there is no way Wizards will trade him to us for Anderson + picks.
In a perfect World it would be Otto Porter but that's not realistic. I voted for Otto but I think Batum or Bazemore would realistic. Zach Lowe stated this perfectly, Kent is 6'5" but is 200 lbs, he too thin, I could see him as a small ball SF or a Backup SG with EG running point. Soooooooo many options. Batum can do it all, but is injury prone. #InDarrellMurrayWeTrust
If Melo wants to jack up shots, he should instead come off the bench. He does not get the green light when playing besides both Paul and Harden.
Tucker at the 3 is not the Tucker we enjoyed last season. He is not quick enough, especially given his age, to guard wings regularly. Since Harden is our 2, our SF has to guard guys like Mitchell and DeRozan sometimes. Tucker will not be able to do that with excellence. Melo can not play the 3. If we have Harden at the 2 and Melo at the 3 in 2018, we are going to suffer. Everyone will put in their maximum effort on defense + we will kill it on offense and we will keep losing games. This destroys a team. If we are going to fundamentally add a dimension to this team, I go with Batum and bet on a resurgence. A resurgence there is more likely than a resurgence in Melo's career. Having 3 creators on the floor might even improve Melo's odds of getting even easier shots and not having to worry about him guarding wings. Melo might be able to play mediocre defense if he's guarding the worst of the PF/C on the floor. By the end of this season, Melo will be a 4/5 or traded to the city he wants to retire in similar to Dwayne Wade. If you don't understand that, then you have not paid any attention to MDA's career and you were probably one of the people who did not see Tucker becoming a 4/5 in our system. If Melo starts, it should be at the 4, and Ennis should be the starting 3, and Tucker will - in the most un-Melo like behavior - continue to be a warrior for us 30+ minutes a game. That MIGHT work, but it also has the potential of creating lockerroom discord because the players will eventually understand that the organization is risking its short window to soothe Melo's ego. That is exactly how nice guys still can be lockerroom cancers. IMO they have not told Melo that he will start or not. They have told him he has to earn it like every player in the starting line up. Perhaps they have guaranteed him the first 20-30 starts. But if this organization has promised Melo that he will start the whole season regardless of outcome, I am done being a cheerleader for their management style.
Yeah they gotta be excited to play together. I mean is there a better player we can get to play WITH CP3 and James than Melo for the minimum? Morey is the best GM hands down. If Ennis and hopefully Bazemore step up, we're gonna be better than last year. CC Tucker / Melo Bazemore / Ennis Harden / Gordon CP3 Melo, Bazemore, Ennis > Ariza, LMM, Ryno, late 1st That's assuming none of the young guys are ready which they aren't. Quite frankly none of them look like they are rotation players on a championship team. If Joe Chee can stay out of foul trouble, he'd be swiping **** left and right. Hartenstein and Melton both look like they've got a long way to go.
Great post. His production at least by stats hasn't fallen off that much the past few years. He's always been a good 3&D guy from his POR days. I thought he had some injuries but he's played around 70 games since he's been in CHA. He'd fit like a glove. It might be worth the risk if we can snag Monk or Hernangomez.
Tucker and Melo should start (barring some trade that gets us a legit 3/D wing). Doesn't really matter who is technically the "SF" since we switch everything on defense and the 3 and the 4 have the same role on offense in our system.
I think Melo starts at SF and Ryno starts at 4. If we are shopping Ryno around then we need to showcase him. No team will trade for a 20 mils bench
Melo and Tucker will start and Tucker will guard the greater offensive forward. POSITIONLESS BASKETBALL.
