Isn't Bazemore 6'5? Not really the tall and lengthy wing we need, no? I mean his wingspan is good but still. I think Batum would fit quite well. All you need to do is watch one highlight package of his from last year to know he's much more talented than Trevor Ariza. He can actually drive and pass without looking extremely awkward (sorry Trev). His contract really is atrocious though.
Well OP Jr is with Washington which will want young players and picks. Possibly EGo and/or Tucker. They like Otto and his production. Bazemore is with At least who isn't going anywhere soon. $18 M this year and $19 M next yr w/player option. Hawks would want pick(s) in return. Just a 1st & 2nd should do it. Maybe 1st & two 2nds if they take Nanu as well. Haha. I'm not sure why people are mentioning Otto. Guess because Washington team salary is high. I think they could move someone else and still be in the hunt in the East. They don't need to move Porter, imo.
If it's only for 2 years, that's the same as Ryno's. I'd hate to give up a late first, but to get someone to contribute in our rotation, it'd be worth that. There's been a lot of talk about Bazemore. He'd really play well here and play a lot. If they're willing to take on Nanu for a future 2nd, you'd really have to consider that as well. We'd have a stacked team at least for another year or 2 for sure.
Maybe just a couple 2nd rd'ers. That would be great. According to 82games.com Bazemore did play very little at SF for Atl last season, 9% But his PER at that position was better than avg. 16.3. Tucker played SF for the Rockets 7% of the mins at SF with a PER of 10. I agree with you about giving Tucker as many mins as possible. Not sure he has to start. Bazemore was 16 pts a game last year...I believe, and 39% from 3 on 4 attempts a game.
Tucker should only be a 4 and the back up 5. He gives us a complete new dynamic at 5. I'm really excited to see who we get back for our poo poo platter.
Sacramento currently has 7 power forwards on the roster, two of which were drafted and/ or signed this off season. Why would they want Ryan Anderson?
Wait, what? I thought you were still ready and waiting for when the time is right. Hadn't seen any official word that anything had changed, and definitely wasn't contacted about how my crow was going to be served. Feels like I've been sold a bill of goods. Again. Hell, I'm still waiting for my 5-course meal from a few offseasons ago. Is it still #goindown? Guess I'll get back to my glass of tap water. I'm feeling nauseous.
I read an article online saying that Anderson's 4th year isn't guaranteed, or something along those lines. Meaning he effectively is an expiring contract this year. Cam anyone shed some light on that situation? Is that actually true?
no in fact one of the biggest gripes when his signing was announced was that all 4 years were guaranteed
I feel like OP gets away with making these random nonsensical threads because people view him as some kind of insider or something?? The MLE? What's that have to do with Ryan Anderson?? Never mind they don't have the full MLE. And how does Ryan Anderson get you many of the players listed?? This thread should be titled, "Here's a poll of some random players the Rockets may like and may or may not be able to get (in most cases not)"
I mean if we could seriously make Butler happen I’d be down. I’d give them all the second round picks they can handle
Just sit back and enjoy the rest of the offseason. I'm positive we'll have a better team this year, and assuming health, will take down GS. Peace and Love, Plow
He's just flooding the zone in the hopes that the rest of this forum will forget about the crow he promised to serve us in that disaster of a thread a few weeks ago. Some of us have long memories though.
The fact that his deal is so onerous is the potential reason why you could even contemplate putting Porter on this list. While Jimmy B. is the more obvious choice, even with his expiring contract situation, its very hard to imagine the Rockets could come anywhere close to getting him. But if you can find a third or fourth team to facilitate a Porter deal that nets salary cap relief for some of the teams, then it might be at least feasible to get Porter, even though still very unlikely. @ThatBoyNick posted a somewhat reasonable trade yesterday: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yanke6oz Wizards get rid of Porters $26 million salary, only taking back $16.4, while also taking back a SF/PF which would be their positions of need. PLus they reunite the Morris brothers, which just seems fun, lol. Boston gets under the tax line, and you throw picks Ainge's way to make him happy (he loves picks). SAC gets Ryno... who they don't need at all, lol, but maybe nets them some hometown love. Even though unlikely, as for the why Porter... he's extremely overpaid but I think also undervalued because of that. He's a younger, BETTER, Ariza. Prime Ariza never put together an Otto Porter season like last year (or two years). Prime Battier never put together that season. He's basically as close as you can get to being a true #2 type, without actually being such because he can't really create and ball-handle like that player. But otherwise, there's absolutely no way you can ever have too many tall, lanky, TRUE 3&D type players. More specifically to the Rockets... he plays a majority at SF, but also can play PF. People point to Bazemore.... which would be a nice add, too, but Bazemore is a 2 guard. He simple doesn't play a lot of SF, and plays 0 power forward. The Rockets strength is in their backcourt. Their weakness is in their forwards. They need better forwards. More to the point, the guy shoots 43%+ on threes, two years running. The Rockets have exactly 0 guys on their team who do that. He doesn't just shoot his threes efficiently... he shoots mid 50s on twos. Mind you that's a good 10% better than Bazemore. He's an extremely solid defender. He can defend 1-5 in a pinch. Against GSW you can put him on any of their Hampton 5 guys. You can't say that about Bazemore. Having two of those type of guys in a starting lineup against GSW (Porter + Tucker) would be invaluable. Aside from the fact that you really aren't going to give him the ball in isolation, or as the creator in a pick and roll (cause again, if he could do that, he's an all star), he's basically the PERFECT starting small forward for this team. With the rest of the roster, the lineup flexibility would be fantastic. (i) CP3, Harden, Porter, Tucker, Capela; (ii) Harden, Porter, Ennis, Melo, Tucker; (iii) CP3, Gordon, Ennis, Porter, Capela; (iv) Gordon, Green, Porter, Melo, Tucker.... you could go on and on, and everyone of those lineups is interesting and has ways to provide both offensive and defensive felxibility. The only thing as noted is his contract... well, its not my money and its not like the Rockets will have cap space anytime in the next 4 years. And they certainly won't be able to turn Ryan Anderson into a better player at the trade deadline or next offseason. I mean, I don't dislike Johnson, and don't not want him, if he's available... But I think James Johnson has been riding a two year peak of "I know crazy martial arts and can kick your ass" that somehow makes people view him as a better player than he is. Solid, should be a rotation player
Would love to get Butler. Don’t think Porter is realistic at this point. James Johnson for Ryno would be a great get as well. At this point I would take a vending machine stocked with free soda for 5 years for Ryno though.
