No reason to do that. Ramirez would project to be a far worse hitter and fielder than who he would replace (Tucker, Kemp, White, Davis). Adding a bat only makes sense if it is a low-risk guy who is currently producing.
https://www.mlb.com/news/bryce-harper-trade-rumors/c-288118528 Star Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper has been made available to opposing teams ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver Trade Deadline, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Monday night. The Indians and Nationals have communicated recently regarding a possible Harper trade, sources told MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi earlier Monday, but the discussions hadn't gathered much momentum. Even as the Nationals entered Monday with a six-game deficit in both the National League East and the NL Wild Card race, the price tag on Harper remains high, Morosi's sources said. In any deal for Harper, the Nationals likely would ask for multiple pitchers to help rebuild a rotation that includes pending free agents Gio Gonzalez and Jeremy Hellickson. And it's difficult to imagine the Indians trading right-handers Triston McKenzie and Shane Bieber -- their Nos. 1 and 2 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline -- for a rental player. Harper, 25, entered Monday tied for second in the NL with 25 home runs, but his .842 OPS is below his career average of .895. Harper's most recent career highlight came earlier this month, when he won the T-Mobile Home Run Derby with a flashy performance in front of the home fans at Nationals Park. Even Harper's less-than-usual production would be an improvement over the .723 OPS Cleveland's right fielders (Brandon Guyer, Tyler Naquin, Lonnie Chisenhall, Melky Cabrera, Greg Allen and Rajai Davis) have posted this year. Sources say the Nationals will listen to offers for their pending free-agent relievers: Shawn Kelley, Kelvin Herrera and Ryan Madson. However, the Nats are not ready to begin a rebuild and therefore have continued their longstanding efforts to acquire catcher J.T. Realmuto from the Marlins. Realmuto is not due to become a free agent until after the 2020 season.
I think the Osuna trade makes it more plausible that Houston will add Harper. I’m sure everyone in the clubhouse would love nothing more than to get everyone talking about something else. Harper for Cionel Perez, Josh James, and Derek Fisher? Too much?
I wouldn’t think it would take that much But if that deal was announced tonight I’d be just fine with it
I have to think there is another deal coming moving a reliever. As much as we complain about the pen, there is no one there to just release or demote
Any chance Osuna is moved elsewhere? VERY unlikely given all the circumstances but I wouldn't mind it as I am uncomfortable with the trade and the reaction from players, fans, etc.
Na, I was one that said no way we would acquire him and obviously I was wrong But he fills the need and will be here I think the most likely next deal is moving a pitcher
Murphy I like. I was content with Rondon as closer but I guess the front office didn't agree. Also, go after Dickerson if the Pirates are willing to sell him.
