Easily -- his name and reputation has been trashed in the court of public opinion without even getting the benefit of due process. You guys will be loving him in short order. SINALOA represent!
No he has served his mlb suspension, he hasn’t even gone to trial for a crime yet. Maybe he never will, but that is part of the risk. He could eventually go on trial and go to jail. I would think Luhnow has done his research and is convinced he won’t. But he hasn’t paid any debt to society
If you will put this whole team under lie detector to answer this question : which Astros you believe that “hurting” the team most this season? I am pretty sure Marvin will be close to the top. When your team’s overachiever getting back down to earth, you need every single help you can get and no one will give a sh’t as long as he can contribute to win a ring again.
You say it’s laughable he would consult any of the players yet he did consult Altuve, just not others Carry on
Anyone know if he and the girlfriend are still together? Doesn’t change anything legally or morally, but it may change substantially how it plays in public/clubhouse perception.
Luhnow : Hey Jose, just want to give you a head up as we are going to add a new staff to our team and his name is Osuna. Altuve: ummm, who’s that? Someone from HEB to join our HR department? Luhnow: no, he will be our new closer and btw, we just dumped Ken Giles. Altuve : OK, now I am pumped, good job and thanks for letting me know.
A video is the best thing for the Astros and the fans. If he did something bad, it'll be obvious. If he didn't, that will be obvious too. He's less likely to get away with anything, and less likely to be under unfair suspicion if he's let off. Then you should be concerned, given he blew more saves last year than Giles and Rondon did last year and this year combined. 2017+2018: Osuna: 48 saves; 11 blown saves Giles: 46 saves; 4 blown saves Rondon: 9 saves; 3 blown saves For as dominant as Osuna can be, he also has an unusually large number of endgame meltdowns. I'll be curious if they use him as closer or leave Rondon in that position for now.
Ken Giles should be pitching in the big leagues, though he probably shouldn't be pitching for the Astros during a pennant chase at this particular time in his life. David Paulino might be a big league pitcher, but he wasn't going to crack our rotation. Trading them to Toronto right now gives them a great shot, and I'd be proud of our front office for doing it if we traded them for "future considerations." Well, I can imagine the front office has been committed to trying to trade Giles, both for his sake and to move on from an unpleasant situation. But we were unlikely to get really good value, because of the perception that we "had to trade him." His actions had put us at a competitive disadvantage. But what if there were another team out there with a player whose actions had put them at a disadvantage? (Well, I think that there are more than a few.) We might strike gold with this trade. Both teams might strike gold, this could be a wonderful trade. I don't know anything about the third pitcher we included, I read that he's pretty talented, and I know that we struck gold for a little while with Ken Giles but it wasn't going to happen again this year.
Dunno if already posted, but... Canadian law requires that all details pertaining to a crime be withheld. That's why there aren't any facts available to peruse.
No he isn’t. There still is a restraining order against him and apparently from reading the blues jays messageboard he had two other woman that he impregnated. Not a stallar human being to begin with even with dv case. On field he is perhaps top 3 closer in the game with a chance to become the best closer in the game.
Kinda off topic but I disagree ( depends on how badly the woman is beaten ) I think engaging in dog fighting where you KILL animals and seriously wound others consistently is worse than a singular slap or punch . Now if you beat the **** out of someone to where they might die or have long term injuries.... that's different . But I think dog-fighting is particularly vicious and cruel. Just my opinion and I'm probably in the minority .
I suspect Luhnow has either seen the video or been given a detailed description of what it shows from someone he trusts, and that, while it does show Osuna assaulting his girlfriend, it’s in a way that will play “well” in the court of public opinion (i.e., a quick shove to the shoulder, a reflexive slap in response to a slap, or a bear hug, vs a Ray Rice face punch or a Danry Vasquez hair throw).
It appears to be an elite team in MLB you need a guy at least accused of domestic violence.... Dodgers- Puig investigated for domestic violence incident at a bar- not suspended Yankees- Chapman suspended 30 games Red Sox- Steven Wright suspended 15 games Astros- Osuna suspended 75 games
Given some of the reports of serious injuries and the fact that the condo staff called the police I doubt there was just a push.
