I have no interest in "looking respectable". I just find it strange that you take issue with trades for a list of guys who undoubtedly contributed to a championship last year.

Screw that old man, let him count his money until he dies.

He doesn't care about bringing a championship to this city.

    Luckily Luhnow/Morey care.

Looking at this objectively, the only downside to this trade is that Osuna becomes a clubhouse pariah because of his domestic violence issue, and that causes friction that affects other players' performance. I don't know how big of a risk this is. But on a veteran laden team, I'd imagine if Osuna really shows remorse, people will get over it. So overall it's a pretty low risk move, and the Astros can always just cut him if things get worse. While the upside is high.

That said, it's hard to really look at this trade objectively given what Osuna has done though. But I assume like Chapman, if Osuna performs then people (including myself) will gloss over his personal issues over time. And if he doesn't perform, he'll be out of baseball soon enough.

Or there could be another trade coming where one of the relief pitchers are going out for another bat.

For now my guess is Devenski gets optioned for 3 weeks. He's been scuffling a bit so they can use that as an excuse. I can't envision a scenario where a reliever on the current big league roster is traded. Most realistic option would be somebody sent out on a salary dump (Harris, Sipp, or Smith) and that doesn't even make much sense.

I guess Reiter will need to add a new chapter to Astroball.

WE HAVE TO GET A RELIEVER!!!

Some guy calling himself @donkeypunch may not like it?

Well, hell, let's rethink this process....

agree with all of this except the last statement..

jose reyes sucks, is a known DV abuser (i think even multiple times?), and has somehow still been cashing checks. osuna will probably land somewhere else in the majors if he underperforms here even with his past

I don't log on for 2 hours and this happens?
Honestly don't know how to feel about this one. Talent wise it's a win

There’s enough veterans in the Astros clubhouse and pitching staff that I doubt this will be an issue at all. I’m sure Luhnow and staff did diligence and had extensive conversations

Hard to say what will happen but I’d be more than shocked if they optioned Devo

He is struggling but can’t see that

Could see them inventing an injury or two to rest some guys (Lance)

I didn't know he's been convicted? (Other than in your mind.)

I'm glad you've never done anything in life where you needed somebody to give you a second chance. (Unlike most people)

I do know that Luhnow just acquired a twenty three year old elite closer with 2 1/2 years of control so they can compete with the Yankees/Chapman.

Kudo's to Luhnow for being willing to stand the heat to give his team their best chance to win another WS.

Now lets hope Luhnow goes out and finds another bat. I'm sure he will be busy today and tomorrow.
