Here come all the holier than thou dipsh*ts. Same "journalists" that completely ignored the steroid era because it was good for the sport and good for their readership, only to sit on their high horse during hall of fame voting. Screw all these guys. Every single one of them. I don't need my morality compass coming from these a**holes.
Na, if he has rehabbed and we traded for him he will be here when the date is here My guess is there is another deal coming where we move an arm
my only problem with this is i don't remember the same media members saying the same when the cubs and yankees got chapman.
Why can't we just draft a freegin' CLOSER?! How long has it been since we farmed one? Closer and catcher = draft weakness.
Look, I believe that any human being can be redeemed. And that I'm glad I'm not judged by the worst of my actions. I'm certainly not without sin, but my understanding was he messed her up pretty bad and was completely out of line. Combined with how he carries himself on the playing field I'm not going to run out to cheer for him. Like I said, your mileage may vary. I'm not trying to start a club or a movement. I"m just saying this will make my experience watching the Astros less enjoyable.
Osuna is only 23 years old..... his service time can change based on his half season suspension. It is possible that Osuna is your closer through 2021.
Quick search I found: His child’s mother called the Canadian cops and they arrested him for assault. He plead not guilty. He has not been convicted. His manager at the time vehemently defended his character. Could not find any evidence (pic of beaten woman etc) to justify everyone calling him a scumbag before he’s actually convicted. If he gets convicted, he is a scumbag and he won’t be pitching for the Astros. If he settles, there will be much speculation. If he get cleared, he was a victim. Innocent until proven guilty in my book.
They did a bit the first time the Yankees did, but it was also seen as a good gamble that everyone screwed up on since it cost them virtually nothing.
I’m ok with that return purely from a baseball stand point. He’s a 23 year old borderline elite closer who’s under control for 2 more seasons and has really good postseason experience. He also has major off the field concerns so there’s that.
Sure. Nobody makes it on character alone to the big leagues. But, amongst the total universe of people talented enough to make it to the big leagues there is a spectrum of really good and classy guys out to raving assholes, sociopaths and criminals. Our guys seemed to be bunched pretty close to the really good and classy guys segment. I know that character was a big deal for picking Correa 1/1 overall when some people viewed that as a reach. Was it more baseball character than human being character? Sure, but both were there. I'm not naive. I know talent matters. But this move just seems unnecessary to me. And surprising. And I wonder how it plays in the clubhouse and the community.
I don't know the whole story with Osuna, I do know that he has plead not guilty and nothing has been convicted yet, and I definitely know that if the Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers or any other contender had made this move a lot of you that are currently "disgusted" would be complaining that we never take chances in houston...
My character was put into question just a week ago for even bringing up his name in the trade thread....
Cheap for the talent. Was highly unlikely more than one of those guys was going to be on team next year.
