You can once the first years pick is used already. So 2019 and 2021 can be used in trade right now. Can’t send 2019 and 2020 though.

They do for me too, but less so with him. He plays hard and well for good teams. I’m not saying it is the right solution but I can see the appeal.

We will be giving up a first round pick to jettison his contract. If Morey can trade him without giving up a 1st, he'll truly be a wizard.

I wish in some way the Rockets could trade for Moe Harkless. James Nunnally potential Euro league contract negotiations suddenly just fell flat yesterday. Batum or Shumpert would be solid additions for the Rockets, though Shumpert is often injured and is a career 33% 3 pt shooter and Batum shooting below 35% on 3s since 2014.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of Batum.
    CP3
    MVP
    Batum
    Melo
    Capela

    What defensive drop off?

I'm in the same camp. Batum might not be perfect as today, but if we want to compete we need to upgrade from a player who was not even playing last season. And people need to be realistic at this point, we don't have the asset to go out there and trade for a player with good value that we really like, we either roll with Anderson glued to the bench for another season (and if that's the case stop complaining about him) in the hope that he can be moved in a trade for a star (unlikely), or we upgrade with what is available which might turn out better than expected, especially if you expect nothing.

Losing Ariza makes us better in itself, my only concern he was strong presence in the lockeroom..btw remember tunnelgate incident, after that we took off and stole no 1 seed of the worriers

MKG is the same player as Andre Iguodala, Marcus Smart, and Andre Robertson (he's better than Roberson).

While he's basically a bust as the #2 pick in the draft he has become a possession-creating difference-making defender who is an excellent finisher on the break. You change his shot selection and he becomes serviceable here. I think that trade would be a win.

And we may be able to push mkg to Sacramento for shumpert.

Batum is a pretty bad defender, and his contract is just as bad. and he's a fairly unreliable shooter as well, and he's pretty injury prone.

Of the Hornets guys he's probably on my least want list.

Marvin Williams is the one guy that makes the most sense in general, but his trade value is probably higher than Anderson, so it seems unlikely they can straight up flip like that. especially given the Hornet's motive may be to save money.

If we consider who this team have, especially in the context of a playoff series, then you probably want a guy who can play 3/4 because you only have 1 PJ Tucker and most ideally you want him 4/5, assuming none of us think Melo as the main 3 in a high stakes playoff series is ideal finding one more guy that you can credibly see at least match up size wise against Durant / Paul George / Lebron of the world is very important. but that's easier said than done.

Damarre Carroll is probably the most logical among the names generally thrown around. He's revived his stock a bit last year in Brooklyn and while saying he's a Lebron stopper is too rich (despite that's what got him paid this contract.) he's certainly among the shorter list of guys you wouldn't totally cringe to see matched up in those situations.

I really don't think Melo is such a liability defensively against GSW... I mean, what does Green or Iguadala have offensively that Melo can't contain?
I'm not saying he's above average defender but he is not a liability when he is locked in on that end of the floor, and with CP3 there I doubt that he won't be.

This pretty much sums him up at the moment. There was a time that I would have wanted him but that has come and gone.

MKG is the same player as Iguoldala?

    How high are you?

And now Rockets can do the same with Melo posting up Curry. Easy two points.

If we’re getting Iguodala, Smart or Roberson, why would we trade them for Iman Shumpert?

    Lmao

Lol. What? Huh? How can you type that with a straight face? Ariza's one of the best role 3&D role players in the NBA. He's not a superstar or even a allstar. But his ability to hit corner 3's & defensive IQ was off the charts for us. Even though his last game was horrendus, his defense was one the MAIN reasons we were able to get to game 7.
