Only way DM includes Gordon is if we get the best player in the deal. I.e. Butler

No way Miami trades James Johnson (who has very good market value) for a minus like Rhyno...

Batum fits on the description, but has an extra contract year over Anderson's.

Marvin Williams and MKG seem to be the only semi realistic targets.
Marvin could be somewhat useful as a backup for PJ.
MKG is just the SF version of MCW. I don't like either of them, but Williams would be okay as a back up for PJ. Morey should say, no thanks to MKG.

Add a couple of future second rounders. Retain Clark and Melton at all costs, for Marvin.

Don't add EG at all to the package, at any cost. Houston isn't getting anyone better than him in return.
No to Batum for RA. His injuries bother me. Williams is less talented than him, but he is fitter than Batum.

Our faith never wavered, our beliefs never lessened and our will never cratered. I will be the first Rockets fan to buy a Porter jersey

i couple of thoughts after reading the tweet and the first 6 pages:

    1. taking back salary doesn't have to mean raising the tax bill this year (or getting a team out of the tax this year). it can mean taking back more years on a longer term deal. i would look into who's got more than ryno's 2 years left on their deal.

    2. defenderS - doesn't have to be from the same team (3 team deal) or from the same trade (2 separate trades).

    3. @Codman mentioned batum before. also mentioned a point forward before. batum also has more years than ryno. plays on the worst shooting team that can use ryno. but is he really a plus defender anymore? he still has a 7'4 wingspan.

    4. we have had interest in bazemore before but that was a result of 2 circumstances that don't exist anymore. (1) he was part of the al horford play because they were friends on the hawks. (2) this was when harden was the PG and we were looking for a SG... then we signed ego. the interest DM had in him may not translate to our current situation. also, he doesn't fit the "taking back more money" in the trade.

    5. we know the blazers were willing to go harkless and leonard for ryno last summer as part of the melo trade. harkless doesn't fit the point forward mold, but should be on the short list of possibilities here.

    6. morey has tried to get shumpert before. ryno for shumpert and remaining cap space works. it doesn't fit the mold of taking back money, or point forward, but shumpert may be the S in defenderS. not the main guy but a possibility as a follow up trade or 3 team deal.

    7. james johnson fits the player type, has more years left than ryno, and ryno fits a need for miami. the second guy will no way be richardson he's one of their most valuable players. babbit or waiters will be the second guy. neither play D which is why point #6 makes so much sense.

Tl;Dr - johnson seems most likely. batum fits the bill. harkless and shumpert should be seen as real possibilities.

The only way this can work is with a pick going out with RA. Shumpert and Kostas are on expiring contracts.
A low future seconder would be the only addition that I would be ok with. The players by themselves, don't add much to our Rockets.

I believe Codman is on the right track. Morey is trying to dump RA back home to SAC.

    nene, hartenstein, zhou, nanu... lol

what about ryno for shump+TPE makes sense since they wanted him and he wants to be in his hometown. the TPE can be flipped for harkless to cut the blazers tax bill. add whatever picks. who says no?

When you have an albatross contract you are always active in the trade market.

Saying the Rockets are active in the trade market is like saying Windy is active in the food scene.

Batum's salary... doesn't make sense to me to not just pay Ariza for 1 year and be done with it (and trying to move Anderson for pure cost savings), opposed to being stuck with a super bloated Batum contract for that long of a time. In other words - I don't think it'd be Batum.

Batum from 3 years ago. That'd be sweet.

Morey might be showing desperation in order to get rid of Ryan Anderson. "Taking back money". RA will have to go out with a pick ( a low first rounder perhaps) or possibly two second round picks. It's okay to take a gamble, but not with this type of an injury. It won't move the needle.

Batum is unlikely to remain fit and productive after an Achilles injury. He might have recovered from his left elbow injury, but he has hurt it twice too.
