Capela brings much more D than the other two combined!

    Silly.

Replacement level players are replacement level players. Doesn’t matter what position or role they play.

But 'holic says that Qi could have been defensive player of the year if given playing time...

I believe the things you speak of can be learned via meetings and film easier than overcoming physical deficiency and effort problems, but you are right it isn't just physical, measurable traits that make a good defender I misspoke (mistyped).

Clippers just waived CJ Williams. The dude is serviceable on a nice contract. Give him the CP3 effect and he isnt bad. Ive seen CP3 makes do with worst and he made them thrive...

You still have to have the discipline and mindset to execute all of those things and put it together. And it's not as easy as people may think. Otherwise you'd see great defenses all across the league but we don't. Cp3 has been one of the best defenders for years and he doesn't have the physical tools to even do so. He just has a great understanding of the other things I've listed to go along with his effort

I don’t see that as the likely interpretation. 3-and-D is just our preference when facing the switch. It’s better to have a hand and body in for a tight contest than watch Klay and Curry use moving picks to get wide open shots.

It isn’t a choice to marginalize players, but I do think that the added benefit does make each player more expendable. But as the sole or even primary reason to install that strategy? Not believing that bc once a top notch defender does come available to us at our asking price, we’ll likely take him despite whatever D we have installed.

3&D wings are like running backs for the Patriots. They have a bunch and don't sign any of them to big deals -- yet RBs are quite effective in their system and completely replaceable.

The only players worth giving a bunch of money to are stars or at least border-line stars.

The best thing that could have happened to Houston with regards to Ariza is what Phoenix did, throw him a boatload of money. Ariza is super close with our stars, and had he insisted on staying in Houston, the summer would have dragged out with negotiations and feelings would have been hurt because the two sides would have been far apart on numbers. And while I don’t see our stars getting involved the way Lebron would in Cleveland (Tristan), you don’t want to risk any ill will within our team. Instead, Trevor got paid by a team located in a nice city, so he’s happy, and Harden and Paul totally understand the front office not shelling out $15 mil and are happy for him. Our front office is happy cuz unless he would have stayed here for $5 mil, which we know probably would have offended him, they didn’t have to deal with upsetting anyone.
