Get mad all you want. The problem isn’t about starting or not starting, the problem is his attitude.

His priorities aren’t on winning if they are on making sure HE gets HIS minutes and (supposed) shine as a starter.

Why are the majority of the people on here fine with Melo at the minimum, but wouldn't' be fine w Dwight at the minimum. Dwight at least can put up some numbers while destroying the locker room. This guy can't and will kill the locker room.

Why is this story?? Who from the rockets said Melo wasn’t starting or might have to take a bench role? No one ....this all came from media personalities who thinks Melo is finished and “should” except a bench role. You know? The same damn people who are wrong all the Time especially when it pertains to the rockets. For everyone that bought into this nonsense, keep that same energy when those same personalities are proven wrong once again.

Maybe the team feels he is best in a starters roll and have talked with him. Maybe he actually is better with the starting unit and subbing out and coming in with paul.

Harden plays 35 minutes a game. He gets plenty of shots. CP3 doesnt want to take shots. He finds the open man

This is a non-issue because Melo WILL be our starting power forward. Tucker will slide over to his true position at small forward.

    Start of game (12:00)
    1.Paul
    2.Harden
    3.Tucker
    4.Melo
    5.Capela
    5 minutes elapse (7:00)
    1.Harden
    2.Gordon
    3.Ennis
    4.Tucker
    5.Capela
    5 minutes elapse (2:00)
    1.Paul
    2.Gordon
    3.Ennis
    4.Melo
    5.Nene/Zhou
    Start 2nd quarter (12:00)
    1.Paul
    2.Gordon
    3.Ennis
    4.Melo
    5.Nene/Zhou
    4 minutes elapse (8:00)
    1.Paul
    2.Harden
    3.Tucker
    4.Melo
    5.Clint
    2 minutes elapse (6:00)
    1.Harden
    2.Green
    3.Ennis
    4.Tucker
    5.Clint
    3 minutes elapse (3:00)
    1.Paul
    2.Harden
    3.Gordon
    4.Melo
    5.Tucker

Halftime (24:00) - Harden (17-18 minutes); Paul (15-16 minutes); Tucker (17-18 minutes); Melo (15-16 minutes); Clint (15 minutes); Gordon (14-15 minutes); Ennis (13-14 minutes); Green (3-4 minutes; Nene/Zhou (6 minutes)

Multiply those minutes by 2 for the second half & you get the picture. Ariza used to always be 2nd in minutes played behind Harden...now it will be Tucker. Book it.

If he's a disaster wouldn't it be pretty easy to cut him on a vet min contract?

Whoever created NBA Reference is the real MVP.

He played 67 games at PF (not a small sample) during 2012-2013. He led the Knicks to a 54-28 record and they won the Atlantic division. They made it to the second round. All this with Mike Woodson as coach. Furthermore, the most common starting lineup during the season was old ass Kidd, Fatty Felton, JR Smith at 1-3 and the mainstays at 4 and 5 was Melo and Tyson Chandler. Bench players that got some starts at 1-3 consisted of Prigioni, Shumpert, Ronnie Brewer and Novak.

Statistically speaking it was probably his best season as a pro. Considering the coach and supporting cast or lack thereof it was no doubt his best year imo. Yes, better than any Denver season. He put up 28.7ppg / 7 boards per game and shot 45% from the field and 38% from deep.

Also have to mention he was 28 and in his prime but to answer your question yes....He can play the 4 and play it well. Especially when we have a similar rim protector/weakside help defender to Chandler in Capela. Then we have 2 of the best unselfish/distributors/playmakers in CP3 and Harden so Melo doesn’t have to worry about forcing the action due to lack of help or feeling like shoot it or lose it from being ISO’ed by Russell ball.

Melo is the least of my worries.

I only want to add that Andre Iguodala won Finals MVP as a sixth man off the bench for the Warriors in 2015.

    shouldn't even be a conversation...

To ask Melo to come off the bench is an insult... and I guarantee you that if our organization said it was a possibility - he wouldn't be coming here...
I get the 'whatever is best for the team' view... but he has a brand image to protect - and he doesn't owe us a damn thing. It's not like he's a guy that's getting paid starter money - but asked to come off the bench... or even a guy on a 3 or 4 year contract who has time to grow into the lineup...
The guy is here for chump change (relatively speaking) to help recoup his image for his next contract in a year. He is here in the hopes that it will be a mutually beneficial relationship - he can show what he's still capable of and the Rockets benefit from getting a player of his caliber for pennies on the dollar - and aint either happening from the bench.

If people wanna call that selfish or whatever... your opinion I guess - but this is a business for these guys...
