No undrafted free agent signings reported? I suppose, with the shutting down of the Greeneville Astros, there is less need and fewer places to put them.
Well, the Dalton Roach mystery has come to a middle. He signed with a Frontier League team and made his first start a couple of days ago. Stros can sign him anytime until the next draft. http://rivercityrascals.com/general/2017-18/releases/20180724yzupbx
What in the hell does he think he's gonna accomplish pitching in the damn frontier league? He's just wasting good development time.
I’m sure it wasn’t his choice. Situations like these (college Sr starts out in unaffiliated league) usually mean the team wants to watch him some more before deciding whether or not to sign him. Roach has no leverage, he is very very likely just doing what the Astros suggested he do.
Pena made this a decent draft. But without him it's a bust: Seth Beer was a bust Jasyon Schroeder was a bust Pena was a home run Alex McKenna was a bust Cody Deason was a bust Shawn Dubin, David Hensley, JP France, and Cesar Salazar were later picks who reached the majors. Dalton Roach, Cole Ayers, and Brandon Birdsell didn't sign and are still prospects in other systems.
