lmao. ok, Ariza is better than Melo.

I'm sure we'll see Ariza in the hall of fame.

I mean, of course Melo is a hall of famer and Ariza isn't but it's not because of how good they are now, it's about how good Melo used to be. Melo is not that player anymore. Ariza was better than Melo last year, and I think it's reasonable to think that Ariza will be better this coming season than Melo will be. The dude has declined drastically from his hall of fame level peak.

    They played completely different roles.

To say Ariza was better than Melo is an extreme reach of massive proportions.

I’d say Ariza had a bigger impact on winning last year than Melo did and most of the best teams in the league would’ve taken him over Melo...we’ll see what happens this upcoming season

I think GS would’ve rather had Ariza...same with Boston, Cleveland, and we all know Morey was only willing to give up Ryno for Melo last summer, Ariza was out of the question...I bet OKC would’ve liked to have Ariza instead of Melo too

not sure how good Ariza is gonna look on a team as bad and as young as the Suns...he could really struggle

Boston was trying to get Melo for the past couple of years but he was reluctant to go there.

I think Ariza would be easier to implement into what GS does but if GS didn’t have Durant I think they’d definitely take Melo over Ariza. One of things they lacked in Kerr’s first two years was that Durant/Melo type which is why they upgraded from Barnes, who was a better version of Ariza.

You guys are making Ariza seem like Kawhi Leonard.

CP3 had a career year, Harden has 2 of his best years, Capela becomes $ and GG is revised. Does anyone think Melo can't revive his career with D'Antoni. Melo sucked with a phony triple-double numbers guy and the late messy Knicks team. Bank on D'Antoni using the best of his players. Only Ryno is pitiful because he has mental problems, how can we fathom a player that can't shoot at Toy. Center?!?!?!? My fellow Melo- Bill Worrell.

Sources told ESPN that the Boston Celtics let the Knicks know they have no interest in Anthony. There were exploratory talks between the teams last season.

GS does have Durant tho, and no, no one is making Ariza seem like Kawhi at all...not even close

Nobody thinks Ariza is that good, it's that we think Melo is that bad.

There were exploratory talks between the teams last season.

That’s why I said Ariza would be easier to bring in to that team now but then again they brought in Swaggy P so I think they’d take Melo as well.

The way Ariza is being talked up it’s like you guys will never be able to replace his production. I’ve never seen this for a role player.

If Melo would have declined his option, do you think he would have received a 1 year, $15 million offer on July 1st? More?

    More money but less AAV

Something like 3/30 maybe 3/40 depending on the team.

    1. Strawman. Not what I said or argued.

    2. Ariza has been the better three point shooter the bulk of his career, and the more efficient scorer, BUT AT MUCH LOWER VOLUMES AND WITHOUT CREATING FOR HIMSELF, the bulk of his career.

    3. Ariza WAS a better player LAST year.

    4. But Ariza was also MEH last year.

    5. None of the above will have Ariza even close to being a better all time player than Melo. But I'm less concerned about what Melo did the first decade+ of his career as its almost entirely irrelevant to what he is now.

Right, he would have been looking at taxpayer MLE options at best.

I mean we can speculate. There’s no guarantee either side will know.

Rudy Gay got 10M, Redick got 12M.

Melo was definitely worth that or more.

Just because fans and media view him one way doesn’t mean teams do. Morey has a hard on for him for example.

And Phoenix overpaid for a player. That’s not exactly something that holds merit.

there were explatory talks and then Boston decided that they no longer wanted Melo...at the end of the day they lost all interest in Melo

I never said they wouldn’t take Melo, I said GS would rather have Ariza than Melo

no one is acting like we’ll never replace his production, that’s a strawman...we have yet to replace what he brings which is the problem...Ennis is more of a Luc replacement, and Melo is not an Ariza replacement...if Morey brings in another legit 3&D wing then Ariza is replaced and it’s all good...no one here is talking about Ariza like he’s Kawhi...

Guys..it's the off season. Go relax somewhere. Whether Melo will be a great fit or the worst thing ever...we won't know till the season starts.
Until then..it's just speculation and educated/but mostly uneducated guesses. lol.
