Getting another solid bat should be as high a priority if not a little higher than getting a bullpen arm especially if Altuve needs to sit with his knee. Too many up and down hitters right now.
He really shouldn’t be playing on a team that has higher expectations. Had to go in due to injury. Otherwise, Kemp should play 2B and Marwin at 3B/SS if Altuve is out. Trade Davis and Reed for a new coat of paint for the MMP train. Like Marisnick, if they’re on the roster... Hinch tends to gravitate to giving away unearned AB’s.
Where does this solid bat play? They’ll be fine with less of the AAAA guys getting AB’s... minus Ted who needs more to make a faster transition.
Definitely should be Yuli at 3B and Davis at 1B, NOT the other way around. Their natural positions, and Davis is a great 1B but terrible 3B.
Ramos before he was injured and Realmuto have been linked to Astros trade talks for the longest. The reason the AAAA guys are having to play is because Correa is a question mark at this point. Hopefully Altuve doesn't have a serious knee issue and the other guys other than Bregman, Kemp and Gurriel are up and down. Gurriel is kind of slumping right now too. Just feel like they need another solid bat of some kind.
You want another AAAA player making mistakes out there and diminishing whatever trade value he may have?
There are going to be ups/downs throughout the season. Adding a hitting catcher may not solve that. Just gotta ride out these injuries. They haven’t had a truly bad stretch in awhile... and all teams, even great ones, have them. They may have a rough couple of upcoming weeks here.
