Yea slapping women around isn't good for your trade value Hard to believe some of yall want to root for a guy like this but to each their own i suppose
No one is rooting for abuse nor openly pining to trade for him. Also, no one seems to know the details, so to assume he slapped his woman around is as juvenile as actually slapping a woman around. The range of domestic abuse is wide spread. It could be hard physical abuse and closed fist punching all the way to verbal abuse. I've grown up around a lot of domestic violence and there is absolutely different degrees to it. He could have been slapping her around for months or slapped her one time. They could have been arguing and she was aggressive in his face so he pushed her away and she fell and hurt herself. He could be a POS who's been physical for ever. We. don't. know.
I really only see room for one acquistion on the team. It could be either a versatile reserve infielder or reserve outfielder or another arm in the pen (closer/setup guy). Any of the 3 im okay with but there can only be one. Merrifield is another guy who can play all over the infield and has played CF this year. 1. Springer 2. Bregman 3. Altuve 4. Correa 5. Yuli 6. Tucker 7. Gattis 8. Stassi 9. Reddick 10. McCann 11. Marwin 12. Kemp 1. Verlander 2. Keuchel 3. Cole 4. Morton/McCullers 5. Rondon 6. Devo 7. McHugh 8. Peacock 9. Smith (only allowed 2 runs in the last 3 months) 10. Morton/McCullers 11. Sipp 12. Best option amongst: Perez, Giles, Harris, Martes, etc Final Spot: Player to be acquired or internal options of Perez, Giles, Harris, Martes, JD Davis, Fisher, Marisnick, White, Reed, etc
We do know he accepted a 75 game suspension for domestic violence, which I believe is the longest domestic violence suspension the mlb has handed down. Chapman got 30 games, and Reyes got 51. Not sure who else has been handed a suspension.
It doesn't only have to be one........ an upgrade is an upgrade. If the Astros get a catcher, then it is likely McCann will not make the playoff roster. If the Astros get an upgrade in the bullpen, then Sipp or someone else doesn't make the post season roster. If the Astros get an upgrade bat, then someone else doesn't make it. There is a lot of baseball left to be played and who looks like they will and will not make will change. Hell there is a really good chance that Hinch wants Marisnick as a late game defensive replacement and base runner in the playoffs. You could see a lot of change in the pen.
Agreed. The roster won't be the same come October. It's about having the best 25 men on the team, part of the competition within the competition. If Luhnow deems an upgrade to be made, he will make it. We all see some holes and I'm sure the FO does as well. Anxious to see what happens.
What would it take to get Raisel Iglesias from the Reds or J.T. Realmuto from Marlins Iglesias: He is 28, turns 29 in January. Has a 2.20 era in 45 innings this year, 2.49 era in 76.00 innings last year. Free Agent in 2021 so you have him for 3 playoff runs including this one. J.T. Realmuto: He is 27, turns 28 March 18. .304 BA in 74 games with 13 Hr. .278 BA in 141 games 2017 17 Hr. Free Agent in 2021. You don't give up Tucker or Whitley. Would a package of these 3 do it? To rich for you blood....not enough talent for the other team? 1. Cionel Perez He is 22. Do you trade him or give him a shot? Left handed...always in demand. If he gets his control together, he has the stuff to be successful. I'm sure Reds would want him. 2. Yordan Alvarez Hit .325 in AA. Called up to AAA and in 14 games hitting .196 with 3 hrs. Just getting his feet wet in AAA ball. 3. Derek Fisher In 2015, the Astros had a trade for Craig Kimbrel. We would give up LHP Josh Hader, RHP Musgrove, RHP Francis Martes. Trade fell threw. Would you have done that trade? John Hader is now a stud since 2017 with the Brewers. 1.43 ERA this year in 50 innings of work. Francis Martes is still struggling. Musgrove is a solid pitcher with the Pirates (got Cole for him) 3.90 era in 60 IP.
I agree with you, we shouldn't be complacent and do nothing while the Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, and Dodgers get better. But I also feel that we shouldn't panic and overpay (which I think you, as well as most agree with as well). As I stated yesterday, I wanted Britton, but I didn't want to overpay for him. I'd consider Cionel Perez for Britton an overpay, if that speculation is correct. I think there are contingency plans in place, let's hope the front office fortifies our team for what is hopefully another deep playoff run.
Unless you want to paint every single Cubs fan who celebrated the 2016 World Series win as being "rooting for domestic violence," not sure why you gotta condemn a fellow Astros fan just cause he wants the team to trade for an upgrade to the team.
I'm not dealing Alvarez for Iglesias. I would deal Perez for him, as well as Fisher and someone else at the back end of the Astros top 10-15 prospects. Iglesias is good, but he isn't like Kimbrel or even a healthy Britton. It is even possible that a year from now Perez is as good as Iglesias. However we need to maximize this years team too, there are no guarantee's in the future. As for Realmuto, I will trust the judgment of Luhnow. If he feels that Alvarez is worth moving for him, so be it.
I’d think a Perez/Alvarez/Fisher package should be close to enough for Realmuto, and would be an overpay for Iglesias.
Um... McCann if healthy will be on the playoff roster. Veteran presence plus the catcher ERA of 2.47 this year is huge. The pitchers would revolt if he isn't on the roster.
I agree with you on Perez.... I think he will be solid next year, even this year. Needs to get some more reps in and see. I don't know enough about Iglesias....I trust the Astro scouts. If you were the Reds....would you take Perez and Fisher for Iglesias? Would your fans be happy about that trade? I would do it in a split second if that's all the Reds wanted....Iglesias would be here right now.
Since last July Trade Deadline, Astros have added Verlander, Cole, Smith, and Rondon. Whether they make a trade between now and deadline, the Astros will likely have added more to this playoff run the past year than the Dodgers, Yankees, and Red Sox. Astros still likely add a reliever, but whether Astros are complacent or not should not be judged by waiting to last minute, but on everything they have done in the last year.
Giles, Fisher or J.D Davis, lower tier prospect (or a Rule 5 guy). Time to start moving some of these guys in surplus positions.
