Curry isn’t as good as he’s played out to be, neither is Klay that series showed us Warriors is Durant’s team. You stop Durant and Curry and you can win. All Klay gotta do is hit his shots and that’s just added difficulty to beating them. Now with the dynamic of boogie. That ball movement is gonna slow down for the warriors. Boogie is gonna bully Capela in the paint. And kick is out to Durant, boogie is also an excellent passer. But the warriors pace is gonna suffer. This will hurt curry and Klay game who thrive off fast pace open 3s. Curry will have to slow tempo down and try to feed Durant and Cousins more. And Klay will be shooting less than 15 shots a game. Draymond will only be used for defense and literally the 2ndary pg behind curry with the starters. This team will still be good. But sometimes too much talent can hurt u.. I’m hoping Klay pulls off a Kyrie and want to leave. Boogie will ask for a max and that team will be over

Everyone always talks about Clint getting “bullied”.

If anything, Clint is the guy bullying people.

He gives Embiid, Cousins, Towns, Gobert, etc. alllllllll sorts of problems. The only guy that really does a good job on him is Marc Gasol, and luckily Memphis sucks.

It's hard to get excited about highlights going up against the likes of Brandon Jennings in a relaxed environemnt, but I have to remind myself this is a guy we're getting for 2.4 million... In that context it looks much better. I just need the confirmation that he's willing to come off the bench.

Dubs playing Boogie more should help keep Capela on the floor correct?

I mean just think of it this way. When he runs those pick n pops with CP3 and they switch Melo will be attacking smaller players like this. Him blowing by a faster Jennings, shooting over him and bullying him are a sign of things to come and another dimension to add to your already potent offense.

When you try to read too much into the video you won't see exactly what its showing you.

Stats do show that your defense wasn't as good but I think Games 4 and 5 which you won were significant in regards to the series on average. You had a 102 DRTG in both of those games and a 114 obviously overall.

Your lowest DRTG in that series was Capela at 109, he had a 123 ORTG too so thats huge.

    True

    Unless your James Harden lol

Then you can take 1-1000 dribbles and blow by your man.

nothing really...game 4 was a miracle in my eyes (down 12-0 to start the game, and down 12 in the 4th...also got outscored by over 15 in the 3rd...only game GS had lost since Kerr arrived that involved them winning the 3rd quarter by at least 15 was that game 4...they were 54-0 or something crazy like that)...game 5 was a toss up, but defense was still a major factor that allowed us to win that miracle and toss up game

u can play great defense and still lose to GS because they have 4 all stars...doesn’t mean that defense isn’t a major key against them

those posts were for those acting like we should just run it back and it’s all good...I was saying that we really need to add a 3rd star because CP3 + Harden against those dudes is a very monumental task...we almost pulled it off, but it took things like game 4 to do it...I don’t like banking on miracles, because next postseason they might not occur...next postseason, we might still lose game 5 despite our great defense

great defense is still what’s most important against them in my eyes

gotta agree.. the reason the rockets were in it was because they figured out the warriors defensively. hopeful that with capela, cp3, and pj the defense doesn't drop off too much this season. communicating on the defensive end is probably more important than even physical ability to let teammates know of rotations and coverages, and cp3 and pj talk on that end more than most players i've seen. melo may be a terrible 1v1 defender, but put him in the right spots and have him constantly aware of rotations and he'll be more than serviceable just like harden and much better than anything curry can do on that end. and capela can cover for any blow bys.

rockets steamrolled everyone until the wcf... the first 2-3 games of the wcf was a feeling out and making adjustments by each team and the real series began game 4. sure the game was decided by a few possessions but the rockets had the warriors by the throat and kerr didn't have much of a clue as to what to do next.. up until the cp3 injury. like u said earlier, the rockets figured the warriors out.

also, every championship is won in part because of luck. one can argue that warriors won all 3 of their championships bc of their one-sided good fortune with injuries and beneficial calls. and the rockets won game 4 and 5 despite poor shooting for much of the game. if they make 2 or 3 more of those wide open 3s.. that game becomes a comfortable double digit win... not some miraculous win. rockets are still right up there with the warriors and i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to hope for a few more lucky bounces and good health next time around.

You’re missing a really big component here.

I agree that defense was the key to winning as the low scoring close games were the ones we grinded it out

What your missing is what happened in game 4 and 5 when the warriors went on their 3rd quarter runs?

In game 6 and 7, The defense tried to hold, but our offense also fell apart causing the defense to be deflated and fall apart

This didn’t happen in 4 and 5 because Chris Paul was the ONLY person on offense that was not scared of the avalanche and he fought back by controlling the tempo and taking over those quarters to stop their runs.

    He was instrumental

yeah it's a combination of a lot of things. offensively, having cp3 run the offense lets harden get some much needed rest.. first halves of games 6 and 7 harden was killing the warriors and then he ran out of gas. defensively, and for leadership, not having cp3 for those 3rd quarter gsw runs hurt a lot.

but none of this would have mattered if not for gm 6 refs, gm 7 scott foster, and adam silver.

don’t get me wrong, CP3 was very instrumental...he was 1 of the main reasons we were up 3-2...I put him as the 2nd biggest reason we had GS on the ropes...I just think the defense was even more instrumental...even with CP3, when we were letting GS get to their season average in ppg or above, we were getting blown out

in game 4, we held GS to 92 points at home, and just 12 in the 4th quarter...that’s incredible

in game 5, we held them to just 45 at halftime which was crucial because both Harden and CP3 were sucking in the 1st half...IIRC, CP3 went 0-7 and was scoreless...he saved us in the 2nd half offensively, but that defensive intensity that the team sustained the entire game was just beautiful to watch

this past season made me appreciate defense like I never had before

u hold GS to the 90’s or low 100’s and u give yourself a good chance to win...u start giving them 115/120, and they’ve got too many stars and their defense is too good for u to keep up

I don’t see him coming off the bench. Tillman is gonna have him start to show his stack and make that money while the iron is hot.
