His rebound rate last year was about the same as his career.

Really don't know. He could end up eating up a lot of regular season minutes and then gets fewer minutes in the playoffs.

You let the guy start and give him 26-32 mins a night... until there is a need to do otherwise...

Let's not fuqup this gift with bench nonsense...
Getting Melo on a vet min is a freakin gift! Let's not screw this up by giving the guy the feeling he is being disrespected...
When meeting with Melo, anybody who utters the word 'bench' from our side of the table - should be immediately kicked outta the room!

Like Morey said last year - "high risk options" to pull ahead of GSW... well we aint risking any substantial money and we aint risking a long term contract... so you take the risk of inserting him into the lineup - and hope it pays off...

He is not coming off the bench, so lets stop with that. Neither cp3, nor Harden, nor MDA, nor Westbrook nor PG 13 have won a championship.... So nobody has the pedigree to ask him to come off the bench.

IMO he will start and play heavy minutes. I can see cp3 and harden (reduce minutes ) to be healthy for the playoffs while Melo will play with EG and the 2 nd unit.

Im not sure how this will work, but Im glad we weakened OKC (was not a good match up last yr) and added firepower to take down the warriors. When the 3s arent falling, throw it into the post and let him work.

PJ and Melo starters at forward.
They will keep swithing between both PF/SF as both can play both positions.

PJ at PF when needed of THICC defense plays in the paint

Better Question: Who should start ahead of him?

C and PF seem like a more natural fit in this system

    Against GSW for sure.
No need for not playing Capela against others.

Melo at 26 min a game is ideal.

    So much this.

I fail to understand who we would start ahead of him anyway. Gordon has done a sensational job in the 6th man role, why stuff that up as well?
It wouldn't surprise me to see Carmello as the 5 in those really small lineups - he has a lot more bulk, and can do a better job of bodying up someone like Draymond Green

He will be most effective coming off the bench next to Gordon. Surround them both with defensive beasts. That duo would make our bench better than a lot of starter line ups.

Melo is a 81% career free throw shooter, a good ISO player that can get his shot, and is strong. Not scared of taking the big shot. That will come in handy at the end of games. Plus he is a very capable passer. 25 to 30 minutes is a good target. Hope he shows up in shape.

In my honest opinion I think it would be a mistake to start him. We need Melo to be Melo. He wont be able to do that in the line up with Harden and Paul. Theres just not enough basketball to go around.

I think you roll with 3 main lineups. "starting lineup" "james lineup" "cp lineup". Just sub Anthony out when you sub CP out.

starting- CP3, Harden, Melo, Tucker, Capela
james- Melton, Gordon, Harden, Tucker, Capela
cp- CP3, Gordon, Ennis, Melo, Nene or whoever Qi maybe. Or hell, Anderson still on the team yeah? I mean...it's not like he was useless in the reggie.

Except swap Green for Melton in the James lineup.

Whoever, it doesn’t matter really beyond the starters. Anybody being honest knows that’s our best 5. Each lineup is getting 16 minutes. Harden, Tucker and Capela get some extra burn on one side and Cp3, Melo get theirs on the other. Funny how people are already saying ooohhh is there enough ball to go around oooohhh like there isn’t. Or hasn’t been? Ariza got 12 of the biggest shots in the biggest game. Meanwhile gsw! Big 5! Splooge!
