look at Game 1 where Trevor was in foul trouble for a counterpoint. As superfluous as it might seem when he shoots impossible shots over you, luring him into isolation matchups seemed to work as the series wore on until the Hamstring and the refs robbed the True Champions.
Statistics show Ariza was a negative factor but I’ll take those stats with a grain of salt since you guys followed the series closer than I did. I watched every game but wasn’t invested in it obviously. Also the refs were trash but you beat yourselves in game 7 missing all those open shots.
Stars run this league. I'm sure if Rockets would have offered Ariza $20M for one year he would of stayed regardless of him being annoyed.
Wow! That's not at all what Zach Lowe saying. I just listened to the podcast. His point was that Rockets people called Ariza a "purist" and like "a Gasol brother." Zach asked, what does that mean? And he was told that Ariza over time has had to learn that in the NBA not everyone is equal; superstars specifically are treated better and that's just the way it is. This goes against Ariza's natural inclination where all players are just parts of the whole, but it's something he's had to change about himself so he can accept the reality of the NBA. This came up when Lowe was talking about how Kawhi wanted to be pampered more than he was, and how that was something that led to his divorce from the Spurs.
In my opinion this signing is going to do wonders for us. Midrange jumpshots are very important in my opinion and he is a prolific scorer from mid range. He also still commands a double team on the block so there is going to be another avenue to get a wide open 3 as well.
Someone said what is Melo gonna do when he has to defend Curry. I said what is Curry gonna with Melo down on the block. Going to be really interesting if these teams meet up.
Aziza is a purist? I wanted Ariza to make shots when they conted the most. So I guess we both wanted something. I'm finding this article hard to believe. Ariza was tight with Harden/Paul.
It’s just about as bad as when they picked on Harden on defense. They put him in pick and roll almost everytime
He definitely wasn’t useless and when he played before his injuries he was great but they did fine without him in the playoffs ! He was never the same after he got hurt in that meaningless game he played in right before the playoffs
Don't let numbers fool you, Ariza's (and PJ's) D was just as important as Harden's and CP3's O. I as a fan was as proud as can be.
I’m glad you said it.. he was annoyed with stars getting special treatment IN GENERAL! Not the rockets stars
Exactly... Bob Myers said himself for all the scoring talent we had on both sides the games came down to defense and high IQ players
