    We let Ariza go for $15M, Luc signs for $4.3M, and then we swing for the FA fences w/o trading Ryno by adding...

    - CP3/$35.7M
    - Melo/$2.4M
    - GG/$2.4M
    - Ennis/$1.6M
    - MCW/$1.76M
    - Capela/TBD
    * And we still have the MLE to dangle and/or use for Melt and Hart.

    Then we drafted well and we'll probably sign some UDFAs:
    - Melton/TBD
    - Hartenstein/TBD
    - Edwards/TBD
    - Clark/TBD
    - Duval/TBD

    DM may still have something up his sleeve, but after all of the doom/gloom, he's managed to bring in some talent and lock-up CP3. If you look at just Melo/Ennis at $4M vs Ariza/Luc at $19.3M that is pretty amazing just by itself.

    Morey has pulled productive seasons out of bums before (old Mutumbo, Smoov, Brewer, Green, Luc), he can do it again.

    “New Math” is literally a reference to an opt-in and trade for a max salary player. That’s been obvious from the start. I’m hoping for a big trade, but It seems the current plan is to wait for buyouts with the MLE, a la Boston with Greg Monroe last year.

    Yeah, and it was pretty much a throwaway line for a joke by Murray when he was asked how we'd manage the math of working in a new max player.

    It's not like the team put up "Rockets Off-Season: The New Math Is Here!" billboards, or like Morey promised the fans he had some special math tricks he'd worked out.

    You’re right, though I do think that some of the more passive CF members aren’t exactly in on the joke, not that the OP wasn’t using it facetiously.

    Maybe it's just me, but I think we should judge an offseason math when it's over, not in the midst of it. Just like how last offseason people were complaining incessantly about how the Rockets gave away too much for CP3 and we won't have a team to surround him and Harden.
